TAI, Jeanne (戴靜)
Tai received her degree in law from the University of Michigan. She practiced law in New York and taught modern Chinese literature at Harvard University before becoming a freelance translator. She is the translator and editor of Spring Bamboo, a collection of Chinese stories in the eighties.

Wickeri obtained her Master of Fine Arts in Fiction at San Francisco State University. She has been the editor of Chinese Theological Review since 1985, and the translator of the magazine Renditions . She has translated a number of short stories by Mo Yan, including “Explosions”, “The Flying Ship” and “The Cat Specialist”. Wong received her PhD from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was a senior instructor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at the Chinese University of Hong Kong at the time of publication, where she taught courses in literary theory, women in literature and Hong Kong literature.

YANG, Qinghua (楊清華)
Yang was born in 1922 and graduated from the Catholic University of Peking. He was one of the oldest interpreters and translators of English Language in the People's Republic of China. He went to Yan'an in the early 40s and sebsequently held various posts in the diplomatic service. He then taught English for thirty years, and was Associate Professor of English at the Tianjin Foreign Languages Institute at the time of publication.

YAU, Wai Ping (邱偉平)
Yau received his BA in English Studies and Comparative Literature from the University of Hong Kong and was awarded the M.Phil. in Comparative Literature in 1996. He later pursued a doctoral degree in translation studies and examined the translation of local modernist fiction in the 1950s. Yau has translated works by mainland Chinese and Hong Kong writers. In 2018, he published History of the Adventures of Vivi and Vera, the translation of a novel by Dung Kai-Cheung about the life in Hong Kong in its final decades as a British colony.

Yeung is a Hong Kong writer and photographer. Her publications include Hong Kong SOHO and Walking on the Melting Point . Since 1988, she has been a journalist and photographer. Born in Nanjing in 1928, Yu fled to Taiwan in 1949 and received university education there. After publishing his first poetry collection in 1952, he co-founded a poetry society with other young authors and went to the United States in 1958. He arrived in Hong Kong in 1974 and joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he nurtured aspiring writers and produced many of his best-known works.

YUE, Diane (余丹)
Yue worked as Managing Editor of Renditions from 1973 to 1976, and taught translation at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Hong Kong. She has published various translation works, including four books on Kunqu opera in the series Writings on the Theory of Kun Qu Singing.

YUEN, Che-hung (阮志雄)
Born in 1953, Yuen co-founded the literary magazine 《綠角》 [Green Corner] and started writing in secondary school under the influence of the civil-rights era. He studied in Canada and France, and returned to Hong Kong in the 1980s. After publishing his poetry collection 《你還有沒有寫詩》[You haven’t started writing poems], he founded No Hurry Story Workshop and devoted himself to storytelling.
