Born in Hong Kong in 1911, Liu was one of the earliest local writers in Hong Kong. He started publishing his works in the 1930s. His works are usually closely related to the societal situation at that time, such as the daily life of the underprivileged class. His publications include the poetry collection 《不死的榮譽》[Honour of not Dying].

Mok received her BA, MA and PhD from the University of Hong Kong, specialising in the study of Tang poetry. She lectured on translation and interpreting for many years in the Department of Translation, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
