“Intersection”, set in the 1970s, records the interior monologues of two different characters, an elderly male Shanghainese immigrant and a young local Hong Kong girl, as they saunter through the maze of Hong Kong’s cityscape and survey the mercantile environment with their restless gaze.

Born in 1918 in Shanghai, Liu moved to Hong Kong and worked as an editor for various newspapers. In 1963, Liu published the novel 《酒徒》[The Drunkard], which was one of the first Chinese-language novels to use modernist techniques. His works continued to influence and nurture Hong Kong writers.
