Synopsis:
The story, set in the pre-handover period, portrays the complex feelings between Hongkongers and their compatriots from the Mainland. The Connaught Centre (now called Jardine House), one of the first high-rise buildings to appear on the waterfront which symbolises the prosperity of Hong Kong, was ironically used as the background of this melodrama.

Choi is a local Hong Kong novelist who graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1977. He has been a secondary school teacher ever since and has served on several boards of literary awards. His publications include the fiction 從康樂大廈跳下來的人 (“The Man Who Jumped Off the Connaught Centre”).

Born in 1985, Fan is a poet and translator. She holds an MA in English Studies from the University of Macau. At the time of publication, she was working on a PhD research on comparative study of contemporary Australian and Chinese women's poetry that involves creative writing and translation studies. She has published two bilingual poetry collections, Lost in the Afternoon (2009) and South of Words(2018).

Kit Kelen is Professor of English at the University of Macau where he taught Creative Writing, Children’s Literature and Poetry related courses since 2000. Volumes of Kit Kelen’s poetry have been published in various languages. The most recent of Kelen’s English language volumes is A Pocket Kit. At the time of publication, Kelen had a painting exhibition Imagen de Nada showing at the University of Minho in Braga.

Wong received her BA in English Literature from the Baptist University, MA in Cinema Studies from the University of East Anglia, MA in Communication from the University of Leicester and PhD in comparative literature from the University of Hong Kong. Wong used to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Hong Kong Film Archive. She was awarded fellowship to pursue her post-doctoral research at the Chinese Department of the University of Tokyo and was Assistant Professor at Lingnan University at the time of publication. She has written and edited multiple scholarly volumes on cinema and literature, including Hong Kong Cinema and Literature: Writer, Film ad Adaptation.

Song is a poet, translator and editor based in Hong Kong. He has published four collections of poetry and many volumes of poetry in translation. Song received an “Extraordinary Mention” at Italy’s UNESCO-recognized Nosside World Poetry Prize 2013. More recently he won the Young Artist Award at the 2017 Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He is now Executive Director of the Hong Kong International Poetry Nights and Editor-in-Chief of Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine. He also serves as an Arts Advisor for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council
