Synopsis:
The story depicts the story of a young man who participates in the Hong Kong 1956 riots, encapsulating his psychological changes thoroughout the protests. He is first filled with righteous indignation, and he followed the crowd around, thinking he is doing the right thing. In the middle, when the riot police come out and his friends flee, he suddenly becomes timi. At the end, he feels guilty for accidentally injuring a police officer who recognises him.

Biography:
Born in the United States in 1933, Ma went to China at the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War and fled to Hong Kong after the Chinese civil war. He founded the magazine 《文藝新潮》[New Waves of Literature], which compiled translations of modernist poems, before returning to the United States for further studies. His publications include the poetry collection 《美洲三十絃》(Ronald Mar's 30 Poems in America) and 《江山夢雨》(Memory Lanes of Rain to my Dreams).

Translator Biography:
Born in 1985, Fan is a poet and translator. She holds an MA in English Studies from the University of Macau. At the time of publication, she was working on a PhD research on comparative study of contemporary Australian and Chinese women's poetry that involves creative writing and translation studies. She has published two bilingual poetry collections, Lost in the Afternoon (2009) and South of Words(2018).

Kit Kelen is Professor of English at the University of Macau where he taught Creative Writing, Children’s Literature and Poetry related courses since 2000. Volumes of Kit Kelen’s poetry have been published in various languages. The most recent of Kelen’s English language volumes is A Pocket Kit. At the time of publication, Kelen had a painting exhibition Imagen de Nada showing at the University of Minho in Braga.

Wong received her BA in English Literature from the Baptist University, MA in Cinema Studies from the University of East Anglia, MA in Communication from the University of Leicester and PhD in comparative literature from the University of Hong Kong. Wong used to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Hong Kong Film Archive. She was awarded fellowship to pursue her post-doctoral research at the Chinese Department of the University of Tokyo and was Assistant Professor at Lingnan University at the time of publication. She has written and edited multiple scholarly volumes on cinema and literature, including Hong Kong Cinema and Literature: Writer, Film ad Adaptation.

Song is a poet, translator and editor based in Hong Kong. He has published four collections of poetry and many volumes of poetry in translation. Song received an “Extraordinary Mention” at Italy’s UNESCO-recognized Nosside World Poetry Prize 2013. More recently he won the Young Artist Award at the 2017 Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He is now Executive Director of the Hong Kong International Poetry Nights and Editor-in-Chief of Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine. He also serves as an Arts Advisor for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council
