Synopsis:
The story describes a place where a fierce argument seems to have happened. The author utilises a number of literary devices in portraying the characters without their actual presence or a word on the scene of argument. Towards the end of the story, the female protagonist's writing appears, explaining to the readers the cause of their argument. The last part of the story also reflects the protagonist's dilemma and state of mind.

Born in 1918 in Shanghai, Liu moved to Hong Kong and worked as an editor for various newspapers. In 1963, Liu published the novel 《酒徒》[The Drunkard], which was one of the first Chinese-language novels to use modernist techniques. His works continued to influence and nurture Hong Kong writers.
