Biography:
Born in Hong Kong in 1961, Chan obtained his degree from Taiwan's Tunghai University and pursued his postgraduate studies at Lingnan University. He is the founder of the journals 《呼吸詩刊》 (Breathe) and 《詩潮》 (Wave of Poetry), and is currently teaching at the Education University of Hong Kong. His publications include 《解體我城:香港文學1950-2005》(Disintegration of My City : Hong Kong Literature 1950-2005) and 《地文誌:追憶香港地方與文學》(Land and Words : Recollections on Places of Hong Kong and Its Literature).

Translator Biography:
Turner is the author of the poetry collection Not Moving, and the translator of Lu Xun’s collection of prose poetry, Weeds. His essays and reviews can be found in Los Angeles Review of Books China Channel, Hyperallergic Weekend, Music & Literature, Cha, and other journals. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and co-translator, Haiying Weng.
Translator Biography:
Haiying Weng is from Beijing. She is co-translator, along with Matt Turner, of Hu Jiujiu’s collection Fog, Yan Jun’s poetry collection 100 Poems of 1000 Elephants, Chan Chi Tak’s Hong Kong Lights, and several other titles, along with essays by art critic Ou Ning. She worked at the Tang Center for Early China, at Columbia University, and lived in Brooklyn at the time of publication.

Born in Beijing in 1949, Zhao is regarded as one of the most acclaimed Chinese poets in recent years. Exiled from China for his influence on the pro-democracy protests that led up to the Tiananmen Square massacre, he taught in a number of universities in Europe and the United States. He settled in Hong Kong in 2007.
