Synopsis:
The portrayal of the illicit relationship between two women, Ye Xixi and her classmate, Xu Zhiheng, manifests the social norms and common perceptions towards homosexuality at the time of writing. Despite the affection they share with one another, Xu decides to utilise her body in exchange for benefits from men, and thus ends the relationship with Ye.

Ching received her PhD in English from the University of Michigan. She was Associate Professor in the Department of English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has published research on Ezra Pound and modern poetry.
