Biography:
Born in China in 1942, Dong graduated from the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan in 1964. He came to Hong Kong briefly before going to Britain in 1973 to work at the BBC. He returned to Hong Kong and served as an editor at several local print media. His publications include 《白描》(Sketches) and 《英華沉浮錄》[The ups and downs of Britain and China].

Cutter received his PhD from the University of Washington in 1983. He is Emeritus Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Arizona State University. Among other posts, he has served as president of the American Oriental Society, one of the oldest scholarly organizations in the United States. His primary field of teaching and research is early medieval Chinese literature.

Goldblatt was Research Professor of Chinese at the University of Notre Dame from 2002 to 2011, and is a prolific translator of modern Chinese fiction, renowned for his translations of the Nobel Laureate Mo Yan, among others. He is the founding editor of the periodical Modern Chinese Literature.
