Biography:
Born in 1970, Chan studied computer science at the City University of Hong Kong. He co-founded the poetry journal《我們詩刊》[We] in 1996. His poems have been published in local newspapers and magazines. His fiction won a Youth Literary Award in 2005 and an Award for Creative Writing in Chinese in 2006. He is now an editor of the literary magazine 《字花》(Fleur de Lettres).

Pollard served as Professor of Chinese at the University of London from 1978 to 1988 and Professor of Translation at The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1988 to 1997. He has written extensively on modern Chinese language and literature as well as on aspects of translation. Among his translations are The True Story of Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren: Selected Essays.
