Biography:
Born in Macau in 1958, Chan moved to Hong Kong in 1970 where he received his PhD from Hong Kong Baptist University. He has written a number of poems, essays and short stories. His publications include the essay collection《愛島的人》[Island Lover], which was awarded the Hong Kong Biennial Award for Chinese Literature in 1995.

Mason received her degrees in Anthropology and Chinese at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University. She taught Chinese at the University of Durham until 1995. She now works as a professional translator while teaching part-time at Durham and at the University of Newcastle.

She joined the Research Centre for Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003 and served as Managing Editor of its magazine Renditions. Her research focuses on the translations of traditional Chinese literature into English and German.
