Synopsis:
In the story, a short man who feels doomed in his workplace fantasises about a lady who walks in the corridor in high heels every day. The only time he can put the girl and himself on equal ground is when he peeks over the balcony to see her naked body. He decides to visit a prostitute to feel a sense of superiority over women, but it does not turn out the way he expected.

Born in 1936 in Hong Kong, Chin started creative writing in the 1950s. His works have been widely published in local newspapers and literary magazines. After publishing two collections of short stories in 1965, he devoted himself to teaching. His publications include the fiction長廊的短調 (“Long Corridor, Short Song”).

She joined the Research Centre for Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003 and served as Managing Editor of its magazine Renditions. Her research focuses on the translations of traditional Chinese literature into English and German.
