In the story, the protagonist goes home to visit her family only to find out that they are on their beam-ends. During the meal, they discuss how difficult their life is, but the protagonist’s mother still spends generously on the dinner and clothing for her daughter.

She joined the Research Centre for Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003 and served as Managing Editor of its magazine Renditions.
