This is a chapter from Xin Yuan's novel, Crazy Horse in a Frenzied City,, a mock-epic spy story-cum-satirical political farce set in the years before the Handover. Disguised as a woman in Lan Kwai Fong, Crazy Horse had to pass a message to an Englishman whom the Chinese leader's illegitimate son wants to meet. “One Country, Two Systems” supposed to guarantee the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong after 1997, is symbolised by a dazzling fireworks extravaganza.
