Synopsis:
The story, set in the pre-Handover period, portrays a murder case that involves a family returning to Hong Kong after a failed attempt of emigration. It is a quiet but harrowing depiction of people driven to desperation by a consciousness tormented with fear, eaten up with despair and besieged with an imminent sense of loss. It also offers a vision of the future that is unnervingly and provocatively ambivalent.

She also co-edited anthologies including An Oxford Anthology of Contemporary Chinese Drama and Hong Kong Collage: Contemporary Stories and Writing.
