Giants Arm Brace
Detail: The Giants Arm Brace, typically found on square tables and stools, stands out because it eliminates the need for crossbars to secure the legs and feet. Its S-shape adeptly redistributes the weight from the tabletop down to the legs and feet evenly. To circumvent any restriction on leg and foot movement that a crossbar might cause, ancient craftsmen employed the Giants Arm Brace as an ingenious substitute to fulfill the stabilizing role of the crossbar.
Process: The upper end of the Giants Arm Brace is affixed beneath the tabletop using wooden dowels and a strap for a secure connection, while the lower end attaches to the legs via "hook tenon" joints. The mortises on the legs resemble right-angled ladder steps, into which the tenons are inserted. Then, a wooden wedge is driven into the space below, ensuring that the Giants Arm Brace is both solidly anchored and can be easily disassembled when necessary.
