Huanghuali waistless square table

Early Qing Period
Square Table
Cocobolo (Huanghuali)
75.8 × 75.5 × 84 cm

  • The tabletop is intricately constructed with a grid-shaped mortise and tenon joint technique, featuring an inlaid central panel and underpinned by supportive through-tenon braces, with its edges finely smoothed and accentuated by a narrow flat line pressed along the bottom, eschewing a waist in favor of a direct "bawangbeng" joint connection to the legs.
  • The design is characterized by a sleek, knife-edge panel that provides subtle decorative lines at the edges, while the legs boast a rounded exterior and a square interior, with the inner sides of the legs enhanced by an inlaid narrow flat line that introduces an elegant contrast to the leg's silhouette.
