We explore how movies in our study — although they feature fictional worlds — are mentioned and referenced in the scholarly research, especially the digital media and communication field.
From the network analysis, we identified a total of 50 movie titles, which are most featured by other movies. In our network, these movies (nodes) have the largest numbers of in-coming links.
We searched the movie titles using the "search within the journal" function in ten most important communication journals. These journals include four flagship journals of the International Communication Association (ICA), one flagship journal of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), two top-journals studying new media, and three cultural studies journals.
