Principles of Data Compilation
When the research team compiled data for the History Timeline, they assigned appropriate themes (out of ten predefined themes) to the events with a view to assisting users better understand the nature of each event. The research team also associated interviewees with events to reveal their participation as indicated in their interview transcripts. The following four graphs give an in-depth analysis of the data set.

Relationship between Organizations and ThemesEach event was organized by one or more organizations. The radar chart shows what themes of events each organization has held and their corresponding frequencies. Users can find respective information by placing the mouse over an organization name. From this chart, focuses of each organization between 1970 and 1997 can be easily identified. |
Relationship between IntervieweesThis graph indicates whether an interviewee has participated in events with other interviewees. The thicker the line, the higher frequency two interviewees met in events. |
Major Messages Delivered by IntervieweesThe word cloud indicates the most frequently mentioned terms in interview transcripts across all interviewees. The bigger the term, the more frequently it was mentioned. Because all interviews were conducted in Cantonese, only Chinese version of the word cloud is available.
