無危。春及秋季過境遷徙鳥。外型獨特的水鳥。腳及趾長，頭至前頸白色，頭頂深色，黑色貫眼紋沿頸側一直伸延至胸帶，後頸金黃色，上體褐色，腹部白色。繁殖期貫眼紋消失，腹部變成黑色，有特長的黑色尾巴。見於浮水植物上行走。
Least Concern. Spring and Autumn Passage Migrant. Distinctive waterbird. Long legs and toes. Head to foreneck white in colour. Dark cap, black eyestripe extends along the side of the neck to breast band. Golden yellow hindneck, brown upperparts. White belly. When breeding, eyestripe disappears, belly turns black, with elongated black tail. Often found on floating vegetation.
