無危。春及秋季過境遷徙鳥，夏候鳥，冬候鳥。橙灰二色非常獨特。嘴黑色，頭、胸至腹部橙色，背及翼灰色，翼斑及臀部白色。melli亞種面頰上有兩條黑紋。未成年鳥和雌鳥相似，上體有細紋及鱗狀紋。在花園和林區活動, 一般見於地下.
Least Concern. Spring and Autumn Passage Migrant, Summer Visitor, Winter Visitor. Unmistakable combination of orange and grey. Black bill, orange head, breast and belly. White wing bar and vent. The race melli has two black bars on paler face. Immatures have scaly pattern on upperparts. Found in woodlands and gardens, usually on ground.
