NONE BUT THE BRAVE
(SYNOPSIS)
During the early days of the Chinese Republic, General Yuan Shin-Kai Proclaimed himeslf the new Emperor of China, and to the disgrace of all Chinese, signed a treaty granting Japan hegemony over North China. Young students and patriots of China rallied to protest against this treaty. Tsai, a Young student leader, is arrested by Lei, the Peking Bureau Chief of Security. Our story tells of one daring attempt to rescue the young patriot.
A plan is devised to enlist the aid of Lei’s younger sister to discover Tsai’s whereabouts. But word comes from Shantung that Lei’s sister has died. Another girl Shao Ying, who is similar in appearance to the dead girl, volunteers to impersonate the dead girl. She and Lei’s godmother Dama take up residence in Lei’s household. Shao Ying learns the location of a secret prison and while she and Lei attend a dinner at the Japanese Consul, Dama attacks the prison with a group of students. The prison is a trap set by Lei to capture more of the revolutionaries. Dama is injured but manages to escape, while the others are captured and sentenced to death. Lei becomes suspicious of Dama’s wounds and lays another trap to catch her. Unfortunately Dama falls into the trap and she is sentenced to die alongside the other young revolutionaries.
Lei takes Shao Ying to watce the execution of these rebels. Shocked and angered at the murder of Dama and the students, Shao Ying reveals her true identity in a fight to the death with Lei. During the fight Lei reveals that Tsai is imprisoned at the Japanese Consulate. Shao Ying fights her way into the Japanese Consulate and frees Tsai at the cost of her own life.
