(synopsis)
Tang Teh-jen (Liu En Chia), a real estate dealer who came to Hongkong from North China many years ago, was highly prejudiced against the Cantonese. His sitster, died of sorrow survived by a daughter, Lee Ching-li (Pai Lu Ming). when her Cantonese husband deserted her Ching-li grew up with Tang's own daughter Lo-pin (Chung Ching). Both were clever and attractive.
The two girls fell in love with two handsome school teachers. Strangely enough, the Cantonese-speaking Ching-li was in love with the northerner Wu Shu-sheng (Lei Chen), while the Mandarin-speaking Lo-pin was in love with Cantonese Kan Leung (Tien Ching). There was language difficulty, but common interests increased their mutual affection. Tang, as the guardian of the two girls, refused to give his blessing to their romance.
Tang's real estate company did not fare well. When the managing director of the firm learned that a wealthy woman Kan Lan-hua was returning from the United States of America and was prepared to invest ten million U. S. dollars in local real estate, he instructed general manager Tang to negotiate with her.
The wealthy lady turned out to be Kan Leung's aunt, who had not seen her nephew for the last ten years. In fact She cabled him the date of her arrival.
Meanwhile, the news filled Tang in with high hopes he encouraged his daughter to go steady with her boy friend.
At the airport, Kan Leung and his friends - and Tang, of course-gathered together to welcome his aunt. When Kan learned that his aunt's plane had been delayed, he persuaded his friend Ah Lam (Liang Sheng Po), a funny fellow being chased by the money-lenders, to disguise himself as his aunt. The pretense paid off. Tang, a widower, was literally delighted, He wanted to marry this rich but ugly woman. To give himself an opportunity, he held a beach party for all of them.
At the resort hotel, under the moon and in the cool breeze of the night, the two pairs of young lovers wandered away Tang, then took the opportunity of asking for the hand of Ah Lam in marriage, trouble of course, blew up when the real Ah Lam was exposed.
