3-way Lap Joint
Detail: The 3-way Lap Joint is an adaptation of the traditional Cross Joint. It involves multiple square members intersecting on a single plane, with parts of their intersection notched out to form the joint. Once assembled, this joint maintains an even thickness across all three intersecting members.
Process: This tenon involves three square wooden pieces, each angled at 60° relative to the others. Each piece is sawn to remove two-thirds of its thickness, and then they are joined together, resulting in a composite height equal to that of a single square piece of wood.
