Chi Lin Nunnery
Architecture
Wood Structure
- The Chi Lin Nunnery in Hong Kong is a complex of Buddhist temples located in Kowloon, originally established in 1934 and later reconstructed in the 1990s.
- The architecture employs the traditional architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. During the reconstruction process, not a single nail was used; instead, the ancient Chinese woodworking technique of mortise and tenon joinery was applied. This technique involves a series of precise interlocking wooden connections, where the wooden components fit together without the need for metal fasteners.
