  • The solid-panel grand doors are constructed from thick wooden planks and specifically used for palaces, altars, mansions, and city wall buildings. They are the most premium, largest, and strongest type of panel doors, exemplified by the likes of Ning Shou Gate.
  • These massive doors are assembled from multiple thick wooden planks, which are joined and locked together using strips and fasteners. The planks are interconnected using intricate joinery techniques, such as dragon and phoenix tenons or mitered tenon joints.
  • There are two common methods for installing the joining strips. One is the open-strip method, where the strips are threaded on the inside of the door panel, leaving the wooden strips visibly exposed. The other method involves drilling holes in the center of the narrow face of the door panel and threading the handle strips through from both sides, rendering the strips invisible after installation.
