A Huanghuali And Burlwood Rectangular Incense Stand

Late Ming Dynasty
Incense Stand
Cocobolo (Huanghuali), Burl

  • The top features a meticulous standard mitre construction, complete with a seamless, tongue-and-groove, single-board burl floating panel. This panel is supported by two dovetailed transverse braces, coupled with an additional cross brace underneath, all secured firmly with wooden pins, showcasing the tenons on the frame's shorter sides.
  • Elegantly designed, the edge molding of the top gently slopes downward and inward, culminating in a finely beaded edge. This detail sits gracefully above the waist and the apron, which are crafted from a single piece of wood that terminates into a wide band with a concave profile, seamlessly half-lapped, mortised, and tenoned into the legs.
  • The sturdy legs, which feature double-lock tenons, are meticulously joined to the mitred frame and conclude in refined hoof feet. This entire assembly is supported by a mitred frame at the base, ensuring both stability and aesthetic harmony.
