Late Ming Dynasty
Side Table
Ipe (Zitan)

  • The top features a standard miter, mortise, and tenon frame with a flush, tongue-and-groove, five-board floating panel construction, supported by four dovetailed transverse stretchers, with shorter frame members displaying exposed tenons and the edge grooved, molding downward and inward, ending in a narrow flat band.
  • The structure includes a recessed waist and a straight apron with beaded edges, both crafted from a single piece of wood and integrated into the design with miter, mortise, and tenon joints, as well as half-lapped onto the legs.
  • The legs are attached to the mitered frame with double-lock tenons, ending in finely crafted hoof feet, and are connected by humpback-shaped stretchers using mortise and tenon joints.
