Huanghuali Waistless Painting Table

Early Qing Period
Painting Table
Cocobolo (Huanghuali)
105 × 55 × 81 cm

  • The tabletop, hewn from a single, ample plank, showcases the wood's unique and striking natural grain.
  • Nestled between the four legs, interlocking corner tenons provide a robust framework, with the gaps bridged by vertical columns. These columns are adorned with artfully carved fishing gate holes, reminiscent of firecrackers, and are edged with subtle, sunburst patterns.
  • Beneath the interlocking tenons, eight petite corner braces enhance the table’s stability without compromising the spacious area beneath. The legs, crafted from rounded timber, plant solidly on the floor, ensuring a firm stance.
