The research team at Hong Kong Baptist University conducted a representative large-scale household survey across Hong Kong as part of this project. This webpage provides access to some raw data and interactive data charts created based on the data for public reference.
This webpage contains the database files of the survey, including the questionnaire, field reports, and survey data codebook. The original files of the questionnaire were in Chinese and were later translated into English. In case of any discrepancies between the two versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
Some of the raw data is also conditionally available for public download, allowing the public and other scholars to conduct further research and data analysis, thereby helping stakeholders better understand the situation of Hong Kong families employing domestic helpers. The public can directly download the relevant data from the links below.
The raw data available on this webpage is an abridged version. To protect the privacy of respondents, we have removed all personal identification information (including region, address, housing type, and phone number). Additionally, the research team has deleted data related to several questions due to issues such as data quality and relevance to other research projects; these questions are not included in the questionnaire provided on the webpage. Apart from these exclusions, most questions from the survey have been retained for use. The research team has conducted preliminary cleaning of the data provided on the website, but data users may still need to perform additional cleaning themselves.
