　　民初，華北某小鎭，乃龍蛇混集地區，當地有妓院萬香樓，業務甚盛，中有雛妓名小翠者，年輕貌美，惟召其薦枕者，事後均遇猛鬼追嚇，因此，小翠乃被指為有邪鬼附身，無人再敢惹她，妓院老板黑臉，因而對小翠常施夏楚洩怒。

　　妓院老鴇焦大媽同情小翠，暗帶小翠到妓院後一荒廢之高陞客棧藏匿，該客棧內停有七具棺材，死者倶屬意外横死者，故屋內鬼氣森森，據傳常有猛鬼作祟，成為當地一座著名鬼屋，無人敢進，只有焦大媽常携神符進內將各棺材加封，以禁制厲鬼作崇。

　　一日有少女名王燕燕者，偕未婚夫沈明抵鎭上，逕欲進入高陞客棧視察，惟被鄰人所阻。兩人無奈，乃另覓客店投宿，原來燕燕乃高陞客棧店主王得海之孫女，此行乃欲將其祖父及母親之棺材下葬，該兩具棺材亦卽停在高陞客棧內之七棺之二。燕燕十年前隨父遠走他鄕，對祖父及其母死因茫然不知，更不解客棧何以淪為鬼屋。

　　翌日，沈明因事赴鄰縣，燕燕乃往萬香樓找焦大媽，因大媽乃其母生前好友，不料為黑臉將其囚禁，企圖賣她落青樓。

　　未幾，燕燕得機逃脫，闖入高陞客棧內，乃遇見小翠與焦大媽，大媽遂將高陞客棧變為鬼屋及其祖父與母親横死經過告知燕燕。停在客棧内之七具棺材死者除其祖父及其母之外，尙有一對前淸王爺父女，一名青年賣解者，一名賣蛇商人及一名道士。至於其祖父王得海及其母王大娘之死乃被當地土豪洪金發所害。其父王青峯因畏洪家勢力，故偕燕燕遠走他鄕避禍。

　　燕燕獲悉前事，悲憤不已，乃决心將客棧中棺材下葬，但事為洪金發所悉，命爪牙阻止當地工人替燕燕工作，僅得更夫趙呆及小翠助其淸理，不久，沈明亦返抵該鎭與燕燕會合。

　　未幾，小翠遭洪家爪牙擄去，因受不住凌辱，卒懸樑自盡。趙呆暗戀小翠多時，聞耗大悲，原來彼乃一名退隱之飛賊，前此小翠被誤會有邪鬼附身，實亦為趙呆所弄之玄虛，現小翠旣死，趙呆為彼報仇，往洪家鬧事，洪家爪牙多人及三姨太均被殺，洪金發以為是沈明與燕燕所為，將二人擄返家中。焦大媽往求情，被金發打至重傷。趙呆再至洪家將燕燕及沈明救出，但他本人亦中槍而死。

　　金發與其姪洪奎獲悉客棧中棺材內有藏寶，乃乘夜入客棧內開棺取寶，不料猛鬼突然出現，將金發嚇死，究竟這些猛鬼從何而來？在本片結局中自有分曉。

(SYNOPSIS)

Hsiao Tsui is the most beautiful girl in a prosperous prostitution house in a North China town. But every client of hers is chased and scared by ghosts. She is thus very poorly treated by the owner. House madame Chiao takes pity in Tsui and hides her in an abandoned inn. There are seven coffins in the inn, all results of unnatural deaths.

One day, a young man Shen and girl Ying Ying come to town. Ying Ying is the granddaughter of the former innkeeper.

Shen is her fiance and is chief of the provincial detective force. He goes about to check on bad man Hung's underworld organisation.

Ying Ying wants to reopen the inn. She is imprisoned by the brothel owner who tries to make her a prostitute. But Ying Ying escapes into the inn. She meets Tsui and Chiao.

Chiao tells her the inn used to be very prosperous under her grandfather and parents until ten years ago when many impossible accidents took place with the arrival of young Ma. Ma followed a man and his daughter into the inn and killed them both. Ma, bitten by snake, died. His coffin crashed the snake owner to death.

The innkeeper invited a Taoist to soothe the spirits but even the Taoist was tempted and killed.

Bad man Hung had his eyes on Ying Ying's mother. He raped her. He later killed Ying Ying's grandfather. The mother committed suicide. The father escaped with Ying Ying.

Ying Ying is determined to reopen the inn. She also tries to bury the dead. Hung's men forbid the workers to help her. Only watchman Chao and Tsui help along.

Hung's men kidnap Hsiao Tsui and raped her. She hangs herself. Watchman Chao is enraged because he loves her. Hung's concubine and hoodlum are killed. The suspicious Hung arrest Shen and Ying Ying and puts them in a dungeon. Hung is told there is treasure in the coffins. Chiao pleads for Ying Ying but is severely beaten by Hung.

Watchman Chao confesses to a dying Chiao that he was a reformed robber, was responsible for the ghost scares and now will avenge for Chiao. He rescues Shen and Ying Ying that night but he himself is seriously wounded.

Hung and his nephew come to the inn. Suddenly two coffin tops slide back and the dead innkeeper and Ying Ying's mother stand up from the coffin. Hung is shocked to death. His nephew laughs. The corpses are actually actors bought by the nephew to kill the uncle.

The nephew now tries to kill the actors. But Shen comes with his detectives. He has already collected enough confidence to convict the Hungs of narcotic trafficking. All the bad men are subdued. Ying Ying buries her ancestors and the inn is back to business.

　　結果呢？一干作惡多端的人倶應了「惡有惡報」四字。原來，沈明是偵緝隊隊長，率領隊員奉命徹查一宗大案件，在其嚴密的偵察下，得知鎭上藏汚納垢所在，罪魁禍首是誰。

　　於是，案子得以結束，高陞客棧鬧鬼之謎，也水落石出，「邪魔」旣去，鎭上居民無不額手稱慶，感謝燕燕等人。

　　丁善璽導演「驅魔女」，手法獨特，不落前人窠臼，尤其是選角方面，更見眼光，李影、盧國雄、森森、王琛、王萊、田俊、黃家達等，均有了前所未見的表現，誘導之功，不可抹煞。
