“THE LAST DUEL”

( Synopsis )

　　I Chun was an outstanding swordsman who went into the service of Eunuch Ho, the commander of Imperial Guards. He carried out the orders of Ho and assassinated many loyal ministers of the court. Even though I Chun's lover, Hsiu Hsiu, persuaded him not to help the evil eunuch, I Chun insisted that he had to repay Ho for having saved his life once.

　　When I Chun was making an attempt to kill Councillor Wen, he encountered a young knight Wang Yuan who was also instructed by I Chun's teacher, the Purple Bamboo Elder. Wang took I Chun to his father's grave and showed him a letter written in blood. He revealed to I Chun that Ho was his father's murderer. I Chun confronted Ho with the letter, but was made to believe that the evidence was faked.

　　That night, Hsiu Hsiu begged I Chun to take her away. I Chun refused, and before he left for his mission, he drank the wine presented to him by Hsiu Hsiu. The wine was drugged, and I Chun was captured while trying to assassinate Councillor Wen.

　　Councillor Wen invited Eunuch Ho to attend the trial of I Chun. Ho was afraid that I Chun might expose him so he sent his guards to silence I Chun.

　　Hsiu Hsiu and her brother Ta Cheng escorted I Chun to the capital for trial. They were intercepted by Eunuch Ho's guards. Ta Cheng was killed in the ambush and before he died he asked I Chun to forgive Hsiu Hsiu who drugged him at her brother's orders. Hsiu Hsiu was stabbed while trying to shield I Chun from the killers. I Chun's chains were unlocked and he fought against the killers, vanquishing them all. Prom one of the killers he discovered that Ho was his father's murderer.

　　I Chun finally avenged his father's death and killed the traitrous Eunuch Ho. Though he had killed Wang Yuan's brother, Wang forgave him. In the meantime, Councillor Wen had obtained for I Chun a free pardon, so that I Chun could lead a new life.

本事

　　俠士易君，身懷絶技而不爲國出力，反投效禁軍總管何開武（何太監），殘害忠良•先後殺害楊大人、王太守及劉剌史等人•

　　易君之女伴秀秀，不値易君所爲，屢勸其棄邪歸正而不獲接納；蓋因易君有感於何開武之救命大恩而決爲何太監鞠躬盡瘁•

　　某次，易君行剌文太師時遇俠士王原；易實爲王之大師兄，二人皆大荒山紫竹長老之門徒•王誘易至易父墓前，吿知其殺父仇人卽爲其所忠心效力之何開武，並出示其父血書一封，並謂此血書乃其師父臨終時交出者，望易發奮報仇•易君持書與何對質，老奸巨滑之何，不但矢口否認，反指血書爲僞造者•因王原乃文太師之部下云•易信之，並以何有因於己不願背叛之，逐再效命於何•

　　是夜，易準備赴安平驛行剌文太師，秀秀表示，除非易帶其遠走，否則以三杯酒爲敬，與之決裂，易憤然盡乾之；蓋此三杯酒由秀秀之授意，早已放下迷葯，以致在安平驛館，經過一場擊戰，易不支被擒•易不問情由，痛責秀秀寡情，秀秀痛不欲生•

　　文太師傳令何開武到安平驛會審剌客，何雖出發，惟恐中文之調虎離山計，使其赴安平驛而將易解京師刑部審訊，遂着令手下帶領人馬赶返回路上截殺易君，不留活口•

　　蘇大成、秀秀兄妹二人押易上京，一路上秀秀仍不住勸吿易君；半途遭何手下截獲，蘇遇剌，臨終吐眞情，謂三杯葯酒乃其主意，切勿錯怪秀秀，並將鑰匙交與秀秀•秀秀爲維護易君中刀，忍痛爲易解下繚銬，易持鐵鍊與對方博鬥，在鐵金鋼身上發現藏有〝易家傳寶〞之玉一方，爲易父贈與易君者，由是証明何開武實爲自己之殺父仇人，但秀秀却已無辜犧牲•

　　在會審時，何太監發覺犯人並非易君時，欲以武力解決；正當殺得難分難解之際，易君及時赶到，親手結果何開武，一朝奸雄在慘叫聲中，墮落金刀而去•

　　易君以父仇得報，萬分感激王原，不料王原胞兄王太守乃爲易所殺•易知後欲自殺以報，爲原所阻，並另擇地決鬥，以報兄仇，是日易以鈍刀赴戰，爲原察覺，頓解仇怨，文太師亦上本京師，免易死罪
