在荷蘭實地攝製！美高梅最新出品之傑作！
美高梅公司去年底開拍一部第二次大戰末期，間諜鬥智有根據的眞實故事影片。動用了四位大明星：奇勒基寶，蓮娜端納，域陀米曹，和路易士加軒・由名導演高特弗烈麟哈負導演之責・於去年新春間，全隊浩浩蕩蕩，前往水國荷蘭實地拍製・因爲這部影片的故事發生地點是荷蘭，我們當然記得在二次大戰，荷蘭是一個受傷慘重的國度，在被納粹佔領時期，人民受塗炭亦最深因此，其中發生了好多可歌可泣的動人故事，集血與淚，恩與怨，家仇國仇⋯⋯一切矛盾的情緖在一起，交織成一頁極爲動人的史頁・美高梅乃特別在這一些好素材當中選擇這一篇特別動人的史頁來搬上銀幕，自然是有特殊意義的！
這部影片有幾個極爲令人注意的特點：第一，大明星奇勒加布在美高梅公司二十多年來！主演過不少影片，成爲美高梅的台柱，這一部是最後的一部。誰也沒有料到，他臨別的紀念作品，還有這麼動人的演出・第二，這片是基布與蓮娜端納在十五年從影史中第四次的合作，亦可以說是最後一次・第三，美高梅特別聘請大明星域陀米曹來担任本片「領巾」一角，使這部影片錦上添花更加十全十美・在美高梅今年來在精不在多，在質不在量的出品政策下，這麼大堆頭的作品實在還是史無前例！還有，這部影片還有一個最特點是全片實地在荷蘭拍製，水國風光，盡現眼底・美高梅對此片的用心，由此可以想見。
第四次合作演出：
「基布」在美高梅已有近廿五年的歷史了，而「端娜」才只有十五年的時期・我們試翻翻美高梅數十年來的影史中，發現基布和端拿一共在四部影片中合作過，第一次在一九四一，他倆合作了(Honky Tonk) 一九四二年 (Somewhere I’ll Find You)，一九四八年又合作(Homecoming) 在休息了六七年後的今日，才又在「諜網風雲」中合作，這一次第四次合作，亦可說是最後一次，因為基布已經脫離美高梅了。
「霸王妖姬」中的「霸王參遜」

你看過「霸王妖姬」吧！在片中飾演覇王「參遜」一角的域陀米曹，在本片中飾演德國的反間諜「領巾」，表面替聯軍及荷蘭本土打游擊，而實際上却是納粹的反間諜！
在「施素德美」的大傑作「霸王妖姬」一片中，飾演霸王「參遜」的域陀米曹是近年來影迷的偶像，他自從演了「霸王妖姬」之後，又在廿世紀主演了第一套的新藝綜合體鉅片「聖袍千秋」。他的演技，他的聲望，他的地位至此已是登峯造極，在影壇中諸男明星中，像他有這麼動人的造詣的實在不多。如他這麼凸出的成績者更在少數。
當去年美高梅要開拍「諜網風雲」這部影片時，導演連哈特先生因爲片中德國反間諜「領巾」一角，需要一個極爲凸出的大明星來飾演。因爲「領巾」這一角，在本片中乃與奇勒基保分庭禮抗的大角色，由二流明星充任極不合宜，因爲性格的關係在美高梅公司諸星中，竟沒有一位適合這個角色者，因此乃向外間設法禮聘・連哈特氏看到「聖袍千秋」之後，突然想起這一個角色由域陀米曹來飾演最爲合適，因此便徵得廿世紀和域陀本人的同意，實行借角，演出之下，果然成績大佳，「諜網風雲」演出成績有如此之超越，實在與這事件大有關係。
「諜網風雲」在荷蘭！
風魔荷蘭全國影迷，情況熱烈不下本港
大槪你記得兩個月前來本港爲廿世紀霍士拍製新藝綜合體片的「基勒加布」這一批明星吧！無獨有偶，在去年(一九五四)這個時候，美高梅的大隊人馬，却開隊前往荷蘭實地拍製戰事間諜片「諜網風雲」，這部片便是今日開映的這一套。
荷蘭是世界上有名的「風景之家」的國度，風磨印象，世界上任何人都不會忘記。木製的鞋屐，更是全世界的特式可是你也知道中第二次大戰中荷蘭蒙受納粹的蹂躪，實在非常慘重。因此美高梅選定荷蘭來作這部影片的背景，實具有極深刻的意義！
去年三月，美高梅旗下大導演「連哈特」率領全班大明星們(包括基布端拿、米曹、加軒)及全部技術人員，前往荷蘭實地拍製本片，正如另一隊前往埃及拍「帝王谷」一樣，都是美高梅的傑作出品。

三大明星落力合作！
成績優越，演技大競賽
風流小生「奇勒基寶」，從影二十五年來，一向有「情聖」及「風流小鬍子」的雅號。大約曾經與電影發生關係的人，一定不會忘記這一位情聖。他今年已五十多，兩鬢斑白，可是拍起片來，還不愧是一個調情聖手軟硬功夫兼擅的「風流公子」。難怪十多年來橫行荷里活，美髙梅公司找尋了幾年，都找不到一位可以繼承他的人物。
「蓮娜端娜」這位「一代尤物」，在過去她從影十七年來，她的演技愈來愈洗練，越久越動人。今天，她的年紀已近四十，本應是一位徐娘才對。然而她迄今還是烟視媚行，儀態萬千，嬌媚動人，還有那萬種風情的顚倒衆生魅力。前月間的「慾燄春潮」，經已充份的發揮她的長處。端娜的好處是風姿綽約，落落大方，充份有着大家派的少婦熱情，而不流於淫蕩與下賤，她能得影迷的愛戴，實在有理由。
「米曹」先生是今日荷里活充滿活力的硬性名角。「霸王妖姬」和「聖袍千秋」的成功，證明他的前程無量他那種獨特而强硬的個性，找遍影壇，不作第二人想。
以這三位各有專長的角色，來合演這一部動人而有份量，故事又感人而有力的影片，必然是勝任愉快的。美髙梅能有今日的地位，這原因除了在於它肯下大資本肯搜羅好人才之外，恐怕還應加上一點慧眼識英雄這一個特點吧！

諜網風雲
一
這是一個動人的納粹勢力鬥爭下的故事，充滿了離奇、熱烈、緊張、血與淚的鬥爭、愛與恨的交拼。女主角嘉拉・范奧文女士，她是一位荷蘭的愛國女子，她爲了報國仇家恨身受間諜訓練偸渡進入納粹總境。
嘉拉・范奧文回到寓所，忽然發覺早坐着一個不速之客了。他，四十開外年紀，堅忍而潛藏的氣慨。這完全出於意外，嘉拉嚇了一跳。
「你是誰？快滾！不管你是誰。」她很生氣。
「我是左里士，荷蘭的特務人員，」那人說。「當你還在跳舞，我已經搜査過你的寓所，衣服、書棹、以至你的私人文件了。」
那自稱左里士的人將一束百合匙放在小桌上，表示這是搜査的工具。
「荷蘭的特務：我怎知道你說的眞話抑假話？」嘉拉更加詫異。
那左里士並不作正面答覆，却指着鋼琴上的相片。「這是你丈夫尼古拉范奧文嗎？」
「你認識尼古拉？他去年死的。」
「他被槍斃的，因爲一個荷蘭軍官從德軍手中逃脫，他被認作人質而被處决的。你丈夫死後兩個月，你得到你的德國朋友協助，離了荷蘭，去巴黎，去馬德里，去里斯本。你還打算去美國，結果却飛到倫敦。讓我問你，爲什麽到這裡來？」
「我要參加戰鬥，我要服務。」
他輕視地一笑。「你能够做什麼？」
「不管什麼都做。難道你不明白？我要給丈夫復仇！難道這算得奇異？」
嘉拉想起舊事，實在難過。她親見丈夫和兩個國人給納粹槍决，都爲了一個地下英雄，訊號「領巾」的，協助一個被捕的間諜第文達逃走，納粹就屠殺三個荷蘭人質作抵。
左里士表示他不相信嘉拉眞的要爲丈夫復仇。嘉拉瞪着他。後來嘉拉支使他拿酒，乘他轉過身去的時候，從棹子抽屜拿出手槍，照他背後轟去。可是，嘰咯嘰咯的三聲，顯然沒子彈的。左里士告訴她，早已料到，所以拔了子彈去。

爲了復仇，嘉拉在左里士指導下，堅忍地準備着。左里士要她飾扮作另一女子法蘭仙錫惠，一個忠於納粹，在安咸敎中學的女敎員。他改變她的髮色，載上眼鏡，模仿言語行動。此外敎她收密碼發無綫電，以及間諜應具的一切條件。
左里士是冷落的人，裝了一條木腿。嘉拉相信他不只冷落，簡直冷酷。他不相信任何人。他監督嘉拉受訓，直到她練習跳傘，跌暈了，在醫院住了多天。左里士來看她，表情如常地冷淡。他留下一位靑年軍官羅生上尉招呼他出院，以及在將息期間内逛逛倫敦。
嘉拉從羅生打探，知道左里士的住所，去那裡找他，等他。左里士回來，十分生氣。嘉拉聲明身體復原，請求依照原來計劃，派出工作。左里士一口回絕她，不要她去安咸了。嘉拉因爲從羅生那裡，知道左里士說過兩句話：「一個范奧文死了，已經可以促使另一個良心發現」。她料左里士就是逃亡間諜第文達。
「當你到我寓所那夜，我早猜你是彼德第文達上校了。你知道那夜你給我什麼？你給我以生存的道理，我要爲報復而生存。你現在却要我放棄，這等於將玩具給了孩子却又搶回去。這不行的，你一定要派我回安咸，生命是我的。
「生命？」他說，「我等於派你去死！」
「我不可以去死嗎？」她壯烈地說。
他和她，具有同一的目的，國仇家恨，都應負起湔雪的責任。他和她，擁在一起，彼此作無言的鼓勵。
在去安咸之前，他們有幾天時間在倫敦盤桓，第文達雖然天性冷落，不輕於信人，一半也由於執業的關係；但是嘉拉使他改變了若干。嘉拉决定身入虎穴，而且深信不會有大危險。
一夜，一架轟炸機載着第文達和嘉拉北飛，飛到黑沉沉的安咸上空。時間到了，他們拉拉手，嘉拉毅然跳降。
一會後，嘉拉降落，收拾好了，在公路上走。一個德軍開着電單車來指她在夜禁行走，要帶她回去問話。走了幾里却有一個德軍官開了一部汽車迎來，嘉拉從士兵手中交給軍官。汽車開了沒多遠，那軍官敞開上衣胸口。嘉拉驚喜交集因爲那軍官竟紮着一條別緻的領巾。不消她問，那人自認是「領巾」了。
這位荷蘭的地下英雄「領巾」指着車上兩個衣箱，她要飾扮的法蘭仙錫惠的衣服用品都在內。至於那位法蘭仙錫惠已經幹掉了。
「領巾」將嘉拉帶到一個地方，是老人和孫子住的。他們以爲嘉拉就是媚敵的女敎員，老不高興，現於詞色。

幾天後，嘉拉以法蘭仙身份，在中學當音樂敎員了。她的媚敵言論，不會引起疑惑。納粹靑年官被她吸引。樂於交結。於是嘉拉不動聲息，可以取得敵軍調動消息，軍事配備情况，以及其他軍事勢態。每夜，她在學校化驗室裡，用無綫電將情報報吿在英盟軍。
在安咸的德軍轟炸機隊，舉行出發前夕的晚會。嘉拉是客人之一。從納粹軍官方面知道，盟軍登陸那曼地了，納粹還自以爲很有把握地必然將他們的敵人驅逐下海。
近午夜，晚會的歡娛給機塲突然發生的爆炸聲吵醒了。警號大作，納粹軍官在紛亂中被殺。不消說，那是地下英雄「領巾」的工作表現。
嘉拉輾轉逃出來，遇上「領巾」，急忙吿訴他，倫敦方面有訓令。「領巾」約好明早九點十五分在吉丹堡十字路上相會。
第二天早上，「領巾裝成貨車司機，開到十字路。按一下號角，嘉拉扳上來，貨車跟着加速駛前。嘉拉傳達消息，倫敦方向要直接指揮「領巾」工作，列下秩序表，着令「領巾」分列施行敵後要點爆擊。「領巾」表示不願，嘉拉却請「領巾」勉爲其難。
「領巾」帶嘉拉到家裏，送生日禮物給母親。嘉拉發見「領巾」母親是被剃光了頭的，據說因爲和德軍來往，給荷蘭同胞處罰。回程時，「領巾」同意了，只要倫敦方面將爆擊目標通知嘉拉，嘉拉轉吿他。他說時像受了委屈，敵後游擊戰不該這樣正規化的。
初時，嘉拉感到滿足，爲着彼得，而終於使「領巾」就範，接納工作命令了。過了幾星期，嘉拉的心情一變，因爲過去「領巾」自己安排工作，很少出岔子，而自從接受倫敦方面指揮後，每次爆擊，德軍都有準備，游擊隊傷亡很大。大約一次二十人出動，只有四人生還，嘉拉見許多愛國靑年殉國，着實難過。
登陸盟軍節節推進，蒙甘馬利的第二軍光復若干近海城市，只是安咸仍在納粹掌握中。安咸的地下軍在「領巾」領導下，發動响應，不過，出動次數愈多，損失愈大。嘉拉痛心地想着彼得第文達，倘若彼得在這裡。一定可以避免游擊隊被屠殺。
嘉拉不知道彼得第文達已經到了荷蘭了。他跟着英軍轄下的自由荷蘭戰鬥單位來的。特工領袖羅立比將軍帶領，在馬士特列地設立指揮部。羅立比知道安咸游擊隊損失很大，這是直接指揮以後的現象，應該設法補救。彼得判斷只有兩個原因，不是爆擊目標困難，就是消息洩露。他進一步硏究消息的洩露，除非在嘉拉身上。

另一次有計劃的襲擊，是對納粹在賀蒙德的軍械庫的。當夜，嘉拉去看「領巾」，心裡惴惴，像從前一般，得不償失，白丟掉許多寶貴生命。「領巾」仍然樂觀，他個人歷向出動，沒有一毫損傷，像子彈會拐灣的，無論如何，福將是不愁有什麼意外的。他去了。
嘉拉半夜醒來，發覺彼得到了，坐在她臥鋪前抽煙。她驚喜交集，抱着他，歇斯的里亞地叫着：「謝天謝地！你來了！我眞正需要你呢。他們出動！已經有兩點鐘了。」
「是的，廿五個隊員壯烈犧牲了。」彼得說。
嘉拉一驚。「啊！你已經知道了。今夜有月色，我早料「領巾」一定出動的。他和別人相反，不愛在黑夜動手，這對德軍是有利的。敵人視界淸楚，我們的人危險就大，常常被射殺，只有「領巾」總是安全回來，像有神蹟。隊員的死愈多，人們愈崇拜他。」
彼得沉下臉。「像也要我相信麼？一個人次次出動，次次安全囘來，只有別人被殺，有這個道理麼？」
「這就太奇了，」嘉拉應着。後來，他一想，忙問道：「你⋯⋯你在懷疑我嗎？」
是的，彼得懷疑她走漏消息了，嘉拉怎樣解釋也難入信的。
然而，這一次例外，「領巾」沒有回來，據生還的隊員說，眼見他受傷被擒了。
彼得吩咐隊員，準備接應英軍傘兵，並監視嘉拉行動，因為她有通敵嫌疑，說完去了。

英國傘兵如期降落安咸森林區，不過徳軍似乎早已預料這一着，有了準備，重砲隊出動，包圍傘兵降落地區，於是九千位傘兵等於墜入陷阱。
同時，彼得對於加拉的話，保留着一個疑問。他去查問領巾」的父母，和各方面，看到底誰負起走漏消息的責任。唯一問題是：英軍準備用傘兵攻安咸之前，先命令「領巾」執行指定的敵後破壞活動程序，作為配合動作。倘若這一程序給德軍情報人員知悉加以硏究分析，就會探得到傘兵襲擊這一行動，而知所準備了。那末，誰走漏消息呢？不過，上峯已經認定喜拉洩漏軍秘，甚而通敵；而上峯目前注意於怎樣解救被圍的九千傘兵，其他問題都得撇下。
彼得想，在這個情勢下，要引導九千傘兵脫離重圍，除非有奇蹟。他需要內應，他想起被捕的「領巾」。據査，「領巾」被安置在史干納德的德軍醫院，更不容易和他接觸。
羅生上尉報吿彼得，德軍上校杜列治因飛機油罄逼降，給我軍俘虜，他要求見彼得第文達上校。彼得記為這個杜列治上校，就是從前逮捕自己的人，曾經要求自己改爲德軍效力做間諜，後來却給「領巾」救出。
彼得進拘囚室看杜列治，杜列治先向他打探一個在英的親人，彼得吿訴他，那人已經死了。彼得問他，記得「領巾」不？杜列治說，那就是從前救出彼得的人，現在軍醫院，等醫好了審訊，要處死的。彼得要求他一件事，要是答應的話，他可以回到德軍佔領區。

當天，一隻有十字徽的德機降落史干納德附近的機塲，杜列治走出來緊跟着的是彼得，已經換上德軍官制服，另外有兩個穿德軍士兵制服的，其中第一個是羅生。杜列治從機塲守兵取得一部車，開去史干納德。彼得的手槍始終逼近杜列治身旁。
到了軍醫院，那幾個假德軍用最迅速的手法，奪得那週身綁了繃帶的「領巾」送上汽車，風馳電掣般駛回機塲。上機時，彼得站在最後，等杜列治先上。不料杜列治陡地糾纏他，兩人在機下纏着。彼得袋裡手槍一響，杜列治死了。羅生在機上俯下來，牽着彼得上機。飛機升空時，機塲德軍對着杜列治死屍，還不知就裡。
下午那滿身綳帶的「領巾」被送進薩特的一家大酒店。消息傳出，這地下英雄獲救，熱心的荷蘭人麕集在酒店前歡呼。「領巾」出來露臉招手，彼得始終跟在他身旁。
羅生根據「領巾」的話，報吿總部。「領巾」指出一條路線，從安咸森林區，越過萊茵河，繞出達利爾村可以引導傘兵脫離包圍圈，退入自由區。同時「領巾」願意同去，親自引路。
總部派車到酒店，接他們回去，出門時，人們見了「領巾」，又是激起了極狂熱的歡呼。只有彼得仍然冷靜。他告訴「領巾」，不料嘉拉竟然通敵，而嘉拉反而指「領巾」有嫌疑。「領巾」咬牙切齒，要親回安咸對付她。
彼得在總部，和將軍徹夜守候到天明。直到一個軍官進來報吿好消息，傘兵退出重圍在繞出達利爾村，快安全到達了。將軍喜形於色，對彼得表示信任，讓他便宜行事。
彼得過了走廊，進入一間有兩名憲兵在外守衞的房間。「領巾」在裡邊吃早餐，見他來了，埋怨總部將他抑留在這裡，可以在敵後，不要做許多工作。他現在急於回安咸。
彼得聲明，不許他回安咸了，彼得指出，「領巾」的地下英雄，大有問題。倘若說爲母復仇，要知道剃光他母親的頭的，不是德人，而是荷蘭人，那末，復仇的對象自然是荷蘭人了。彼得更認定「領巾」的受傷是作僞，瞞騙游擊隊員，解取了身上的綳帶，自然分曉。
「領巾」笑着，拔出小刀，將身上繃帶割去。很快地，露出胸膛，肩膀，完全沒一點傷痕。這時候，窗外傳出許多步聲，歡呼聲。彼得張望中，「領巾」一刀飛來，幸而彼得閃避得快，刀飛揷在牆上。跟着「領巾」急撲向窗前，正要跳下，彼得手中槍響。「領巾」墜下守衞兵士加上一槍，不能動了。
脫險出來的傘兵，構成一股人潮，源源走過。在人羣中，穿着不稱身的士兵大衣，容顏憔悴的是嘉拉。
嘉拉和彼得相對，彼得對她的一切都明白了，大家呆了好一會，才漸漸擁抱在一起。(完)
意外的結局！
看本片，你非到了最後的階段，你不能斷定誰是反間諜？是「領巾」?還是「嘉拉」？在觀衆的腦海中，誰都會認為一定是「嘉拉」，同時自然而然的，對「領巾」發生好感！可是結果却非到最後關頭，分不出忠奸！這是導演者與劇作者的成功處

In filming its new adventure-romance, “Betrayed,” in color, M-G-M pioneered into Holland as the first
Hollywood studio to use the land of the dykes and windmills as a setting for a major production.
Starring Clark Gable, Lana Turner, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern, under the direction of Gottfried Rein- hardt, “Betrayed” recaptures the adventurous days of the Dutch Resistance.
"In choosing our locations,” says Reinhardt, “we did our best to keep the action of our story moving, yet record the charm, picturesqueness and indomitable strength of the country itself.”
A number of major locales were used, ranging from Amsterdam to Delft, the city of Vermeer and the famed "Delft blue."
Other locations included historic Arnhem, Stittard and Volendam, where the villagers, baggy-trousered men and lace-capped women, might have stepped from the pages of folklore.
The stark emptiness of Rotterdam, a result of the 1940 Nazi bombings, contributed another arresting background. In sharp contrast was The Hague, home of the Dutch government and the International Court of Justice.
“It was this contradiction of old world charm and modern happenings which we wanted to record with our cameras,” states the director. “We found the Hollanders warm, friendly and hospitable. Their country, flat, green and spotlessly clean, bustled with bicycles and blossoms.
NEW GABLE HIT ...
Clark Gable makes his appear since his great success in “Mogambo” in another made-to-order adventure role in “Betrayed”, M-G-M drama co-starring Lana Turner and Victor Mature. The new offering, filmed in color on locations in Holland, casts Gable as an Intelligence officer with the Dutch Resistance in World War II. He trains Lana as an espionage agent, falls in love with her, then suspects her of treachery in a plot leading to suspense-packed climax.

“Betrayed" Gives Audiences Chance to Decide Which Lana Turner They Prefer
Lana Turner, who rose to Hollywood stardom as a blonde glamour girl, recently has revealed a marked change both in the type of roles she plays on the screen and in the color of her tresses.
The erstwhile Glamour Queen has developed into a top-ranking actress, with highly acclaimed dramatic portrayals in “The Bad and the Beautiful” and “Flame and the Flesh.”
In her newest picture, “Betrayed,” filmed by M-G-M in color in Holland, with Clark Gable, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern in an all-star cast, Lana plays another demanding characterization as a girl who joins the Dutch Resistance during World War II.
As the cynical film star of “The Bad and the Beautiful,” she appeared as a golden blonde. As the worldly heroine of “Flame and the Flesh,” she switched to a brunette. In “Betrayed” she is seen as both.
The plot of the new drama calls for Miss Turner to appear first as the young wife of a wealthy Dutchman, and in these scenes she has blonde hair. Later, when she “doubles" for an espionage agent who has been liquidated by the Nazis, she is seen as a brunette,
Asked which hair color she prefers, Lana chooses the darker.
“I like being a brunette,” she says, “With dark hair I don't feel like a movie siar and it gives me a privacy I never enjoyed before. When we were filming 'Flame and the Flesh' in Italy, I could wander where I wished without attracting attention.
“It was the same when we went to Holland for 'Betrayed.' During an interval of a few days when I was not needed before the cameras, I flew over to Paris to buy some clothes. One Of the dresses required alterations and I arranged to come back for another fitting the following week.
“In the meantime, I resumed work in 'Betrayed' in scenes which called for me to be a blonde. When I went back to the Paris shop, the proprietress refused to give me the dress. She refused to believe that I was the same client. I had to rustle up a few credentials to convince her!”
MATURE GETS CHANCE TO LOOK LIKE HIMSELF

After his historical costumes for “The Robe" and “Samson and Delilah," he was happy to get back into trousers and windbreakers for his characterization of an adventurous dare-devil with the Dutch Resistance of World War II in the current drama.

The chief “casually” during a fight scene in M-G-M's “Betrayed" was Victor Mature's nose.
It happened in a scene in which Mature, as a leader of the Dutch Resistance in World War II, led his followers in an attack against a squad ot Nazi soldiers. It was fighting of the most realistic order, and Mature's nose took the brunt of it.
Although X-rays revealed that the actor hadn't suffered a fracture. Director Gottfried Reinhardt revised his shooting schedule for the next two days so that he could film scenes in which Mature did not appear.

She Had Good Reason For Resuming Career at 75!
When an actress resumes her career at the age of 75, there usually is a reason for it.
In the case of Elsa Heims, one of Europe's most distinguished actresses and named among the Continent's most beautiful women in her youth, there was a special reason.
Now living in Munich, Germany, Miss Heims traveled by plane to Holland to appear with Clark Gable, Lana Turner, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern in M-G-M's color adventure-drama, “Betrayed."
The veteran actress would not ordinarily have made such a trip for a film role. This venture was an exception. “Betrayed" was directed by Gottfried Reinhardt, and Mr. Reinhardt happens to be Miss Heims' son.

Lana Turner is also given a superb acting opportunity as the girl who joins the Dutch Resistance in order to give her life some meaning. Standing out in the supporting cast are Ian Carmichael as a go-getter British captain, O. E. Hasse as the crafty. Col. Larraby, and Nora Swinburiie as the Scarf's mother, who becomes a pivotal figure in the story's suspense-filled outcome.

美高梅公司去年底開拍一部第二次大戰末期，間諜鬥智有根據的眞實故事影片。動用了四位大明星：奇勒基寶，蓮娜端納，域陀米曹，和路易士加軒・由名導演高特弗烈麟哈負導演之責・於去年新春間，全隊浩浩蕩蕩，前往水國荷蘭實地拍製・因爲這部影片的故事發生地點是荷蘭，我們當然記得在二次大戰，荷蘭是一個受傷慘重的國度，在被納粹佔領時期，人民受塗炭亦最深因此，其中發生了好多可歌可泣的動人故事，集血與淚，恩與怨，家仇國仇⋯⋯一切矛盾的情緖在一起，交織成一頁極爲動人的史頁・美高梅乃特別在這一些好素材當中選擇這一篇特別動人的史頁來搬上銀幕，自然是有特殊意義的！
這部影片有幾個極爲令人注意的特點：第一，大明星奇勒加布在美高梅公司二十多年來！主演過不少影片，成爲美高梅的台柱，這一部是最後的一部。誰也沒有料到，他臨別的紀念作品，還有這麼動人的演出・第二，這片是基布與蓮娜端納在十五年從影史中第四次的合作，亦可以說是最後一次・第三，美高梅特別聘請大明星域陀米曹來担任本片「領巾」一角，使這部影片錦上添花更加十全十美・在美高梅今年來在精不在多，在質不在量的出品政策下，這麼大堆頭的作品實在還是史無前例！還有，這部影片還有一個最特點是全片實地在荷蘭拍製，水國風光，盡現眼底・美高梅對此片的用心，由此可以想見。

你看過「霸王妖姬」吧！在片中飾演覇王「參遜」一角的域陀米曹，在本片中飾演德國的反間諜「領巾」，表面替聯軍及荷蘭本土打游擊，而實際上却是納粹的反間諜！
在「施素德美」的大傑作「霸王妖姬」一片中，飾演霸王「參遜」的域陀米曹是近年來影迷的偶像，他自從演了「霸王妖姬」之後，又在廿世紀主演了第一套的新藝綜合體鉅片「聖袍千秋」。他的演技，他的聲望，他的地位至此已是登峯造極，在影壇中諸男明星中，像他有這麼動人的造詣的實在不多。如他這麼凸出的成績者更在少數。
當去年美高梅要開拍「諜網風雲」這部影片時，導演連哈特先生因爲片中德國反間諜「領巾」一角，需要一個極爲凸出的大明星來飾演。因爲「領巾」這一角，在本片中乃與奇勒基保分庭禮抗的大角色，由二流明星充任極不合宜，因爲性格的關係在美高梅公司諸星中，竟沒有一位適合這個角色者，因此乃向外間設法禮聘・連哈特氏看到「聖袍千秋」之後，突然想起這一個角色由域陀米曹來飾演最爲合適，因此便徵得廿世紀和域陀本人的同意，實行借角，演出之下，果然成績大佳，「諜網風雲」演出成績有如此之超越，實在與這事件大有關係。

風魔荷蘭全國影迷，情況熱烈不下本港
大槪你記得兩個月前來本港爲廿世紀霍士拍製新藝綜合體片的「基勒加布」這一批明星吧！無獨有偶，在去年(一九五四)這個時候，美高梅的大隊人馬，却開隊前往荷蘭實地拍製戰事間諜片「諜網風雲」，這部片便是今日開映的這一套。
荷蘭是世界上有名的「風景之家」的國度，風磨印象，世界上任何人都不會忘記。木製的鞋屐，更是全世界的特式可是你也知道中第二次大戰中荷蘭蒙受納粹的蹂躪，實在非常慘重。因此美高梅選定荷蘭來作這部影片的背景，實具有極深刻的意義！
去年三月，美高梅旗下大導演「連哈特」率領全班大明星們(包括基布端拿、米曹、加軒)及全部技術人員，前往荷蘭實地拍製本片，正如另一隊前往埃及拍「帝王谷」一樣，都是美高梅的傑作出品。

成績優越，演技大競賽
風流小生「奇勒基寶」，從影二十五年來，一向有「情聖」及「風流小鬍子」的雅號。大約曾經與電影發生關係的人，一定不會忘記這一位情聖。他今年已五十多，兩鬢斑白，可是拍起片來，還不愧是一個調情聖手軟硬功夫兼擅的「風流公子」。難怪十多年來橫行荷里活，美髙梅公司找尋了幾年，都找不到一位可以繼承他的人物。
「蓮娜端娜」這位「一代尤物」，在過去她從影十七年來，她的演技愈來愈洗練，越久越動人。今天，她的年紀已近四十，本應是一位徐娘才對。然而她迄今還是烟視媚行，儀態萬千，嬌媚動人，還有那萬種風情的顚倒衆生魅力。前月間的「慾燄春潮」，經已充份的發揮她的長處。端娜的好處是風姿綽約，落落大方，充份有着大家派的少婦熱情，而不流於淫蕩與下賤，她能得影迷的愛戴，實在有理由。
「米曹」先生是今日荷里活充滿活力的硬性名角。「霸王妖姬」和「聖袍千秋」的成功，證明他的前程無量他那種獨特而强硬的個性，找遍影壇，不作第二人想。
以這三位各有專長的角色，來合演這一部動人而有份量，故事又感人而有力的影片，必然是勝任愉快的。美髙梅能有今日的地位，這原因除了在於它肯下大資本肯搜羅好人才之外，恐怕還應加上一點慧眼識英雄這一個特點吧！

一
這是一個動人的納粹勢力鬥爭下的故事，充滿了離奇、熱烈、緊張、血與淚的鬥爭、愛與恨的交拼。女主角嘉拉・范奧文女士，她是一位荷蘭的愛國女子，她爲了報國仇家恨身受間諜訓練偸渡進入納粹總境。
嘉拉・范奧文回到寓所，忽然發覺早坐着一個不速之客了。他，四十開外年紀，堅忍而潛藏的氣慨。這完全出於意外，嘉拉嚇了一跳。
「你是誰？快滾！不管你是誰。」她很生氣。
「我是左里士，荷蘭的特務人員，」那人說。「當你還在跳舞，我已經搜査過你的寓所，衣服、書棹、以至你的私人文件了。」
那自稱左里士的人將一束百合匙放在小桌上，表示這是搜査的工具。
「荷蘭的特務：我怎知道你說的眞話抑假話？」嘉拉更加詫異。
那左里士並不作正面答覆，却指着鋼琴上的相片。「這是你丈夫尼古拉范奧文嗎？」
「你認識尼古拉？他去年死的。」
「他被槍斃的，因爲一個荷蘭軍官從德軍手中逃脫，他被認作人質而被處决的。你丈夫死後兩個月，你得到你的德國朋友協助，離了荷蘭，去巴黎，去馬德里，去里斯本。你還打算去美國，結果却飛到倫敦。讓我問你，爲什麽到這裡來？」
「我要參加戰鬥，我要服務。」
他輕視地一笑。「你能够做什麼？」
「不管什麼都做。難道你不明白？我要給丈夫復仇！難道這算得奇異？」
嘉拉想起舊事，實在難過。她親見丈夫和兩個國人給納粹槍决，都爲了一個地下英雄，訊號「領巾」的，協助一個被捕的間諜第文達逃走，納粹就屠殺三個荷蘭人質作抵。
左里士表示他不相信嘉拉眞的要爲丈夫復仇。嘉拉瞪着他。後來嘉拉支使他拿酒，乘他轉過身去的時候，從棹子抽屜拿出手槍，照他背後轟去。可是，嘰咯嘰咯的三聲，顯然沒子彈的。左里士告訴她，早已料到，所以拔了子彈去。

爲了復仇，嘉拉在左里士指導下，堅忍地準備着。左里士要她飾扮作另一女子法蘭仙錫惠，一個忠於納粹，在安咸敎中學的女敎員。他改變她的髮色，載上眼鏡，模仿言語行動。此外敎她收密碼發無綫電，以及間諜應具的一切條件。
左里士是冷落的人，裝了一條木腿。嘉拉相信他不只冷落，簡直冷酷。他不相信任何人。他監督嘉拉受訓，直到她練習跳傘，跌暈了，在醫院住了多天。左里士來看她，表情如常地冷淡。他留下一位靑年軍官羅生上尉招呼他出院，以及在將息期間内逛逛倫敦。
嘉拉從羅生打探，知道左里士的住所，去那裡找他，等他。左里士回來，十分生氣。嘉拉聲明身體復原，請求依照原來計劃，派出工作。左里士一口回絕她，不要她去安咸了。嘉拉因爲從羅生那裡，知道左里士說過兩句話：「一個范奧文死了，已經可以促使另一個良心發現」。她料左里士就是逃亡間諜第文達。
「當你到我寓所那夜，我早猜你是彼德第文達上校了。你知道那夜你給我什麼？你給我以生存的道理，我要爲報復而生存。你現在却要我放棄，這等於將玩具給了孩子却又搶回去。這不行的，你一定要派我回安咸，生命是我的。
「生命？」他說，「我等於派你去死！」
「我不可以去死嗎？」她壯烈地說。
他和她，具有同一的目的，國仇家恨，都應負起湔雪的責任。他和她，擁在一起，彼此作無言的鼓勵。
在去安咸之前，他們有幾天時間在倫敦盤桓，第文達雖然天性冷落，不輕於信人，一半也由於執業的關係；但是嘉拉使他改變了若干。嘉拉决定身入虎穴，而且深信不會有大危險。
一夜，一架轟炸機載着第文達和嘉拉北飛，飛到黑沉沉的安咸上空。時間到了，他們拉拉手，嘉拉毅然跳降。
一會後，嘉拉降落，收拾好了，在公路上走。一個德軍開着電單車來指她在夜禁行走，要帶她回去問話。走了幾里却有一個德軍官開了一部汽車迎來，嘉拉從士兵手中交給軍官。汽車開了沒多遠，那軍官敞開上衣胸口。嘉拉驚喜交集因爲那軍官竟紮着一條別緻的領巾。不消她問，那人自認是「領巾」了。
這位荷蘭的地下英雄「領巾」指着車上兩個衣箱，她要飾扮的法蘭仙錫惠的衣服用品都在內。至於那位法蘭仙錫惠已經幹掉了。
「領巾」將嘉拉帶到一個地方，是老人和孫子住的。他們以爲嘉拉就是媚敵的女敎員，老不高興，現於詞色。

幾天後，嘉拉以法蘭仙身份，在中學當音樂敎員了。她的媚敵言論，不會引起疑惑。納粹靑年官被她吸引。樂於交結。於是嘉拉不動聲息，可以取得敵軍調動消息，軍事配備情况，以及其他軍事勢態。每夜，她在學校化驗室裡，用無綫電將情報報吿在英盟軍。
在安咸的德軍轟炸機隊，舉行出發前夕的晚會。嘉拉是客人之一。從納粹軍官方面知道，盟軍登陸那曼地了，納粹還自以爲很有把握地必然將他們的敵人驅逐下海。
近午夜，晚會的歡娛給機塲突然發生的爆炸聲吵醒了。警號大作，納粹軍官在紛亂中被殺。不消說，那是地下英雄「領巾」的工作表現。
嘉拉輾轉逃出來，遇上「領巾」，急忙吿訴他，倫敦方面有訓令。「領巾」約好明早九點十五分在吉丹堡十字路上相會。
第二天早上，「領巾裝成貨車司機，開到十字路。按一下號角，嘉拉扳上來，貨車跟着加速駛前。嘉拉傳達消息，倫敦方向要直接指揮「領巾」工作，列下秩序表，着令「領巾」分列施行敵後要點爆擊。「領巾」表示不願，嘉拉却請「領巾」勉爲其難。
「領巾」帶嘉拉到家裏，送生日禮物給母親。嘉拉發見「領巾」母親是被剃光了頭的，據說因爲和德軍來往，給荷蘭同胞處罰。回程時，「領巾」同意了，只要倫敦方面將爆擊目標通知嘉拉，嘉拉轉吿他。他說時像受了委屈，敵後游擊戰不該這樣正規化的。
初時，嘉拉感到滿足，爲着彼得，而終於使「領巾」就範，接納工作命令了。過了幾星期，嘉拉的心情一變，因爲過去「領巾」自己安排工作，很少出岔子，而自從接受倫敦方面指揮後，每次爆擊，德軍都有準備，游擊隊傷亡很大。大約一次二十人出動，只有四人生還，嘉拉見許多愛國靑年殉國，着實難過。
登陸盟軍節節推進，蒙甘馬利的第二軍光復若干近海城市，只是安咸仍在納粹掌握中。安咸的地下軍在「領巾」領導下，發動响應，不過，出動次數愈多，損失愈大。嘉拉痛心地想着彼得第文達，倘若彼得在這裡。一定可以避免游擊隊被屠殺。
嘉拉不知道彼得第文達已經到了荷蘭了。他跟着英軍轄下的自由荷蘭戰鬥單位來的。特工領袖羅立比將軍帶領，在馬士特列地設立指揮部。羅立比知道安咸游擊隊損失很大，這是直接指揮以後的現象，應該設法補救。彼得判斷只有兩個原因，不是爆擊目標困難，就是消息洩露。他進一步硏究消息的洩露，除非在嘉拉身上。

另一次有計劃的襲擊，是對納粹在賀蒙德的軍械庫的。當夜，嘉拉去看「領巾」，心裡惴惴，像從前一般，得不償失，白丟掉許多寶貴生命。「領巾」仍然樂觀，他個人歷向出動，沒有一毫損傷，像子彈會拐灣的，無論如何，福將是不愁有什麼意外的。他去了。
嘉拉半夜醒來，發覺彼得到了，坐在她臥鋪前抽煙。她驚喜交集，抱着他，歇斯的里亞地叫着：「謝天謝地！你來了！我眞正需要你呢。他們出動！已經有兩點鐘了。」
「是的，廿五個隊員壯烈犧牲了。」彼得說。
嘉拉一驚。「啊！你已經知道了。今夜有月色，我早料「領巾」一定出動的。他和別人相反，不愛在黑夜動手，這對德軍是有利的。敵人視界淸楚，我們的人危險就大，常常被射殺，只有「領巾」總是安全回來，像有神蹟。隊員的死愈多，人們愈崇拜他。」
彼得沉下臉。「像也要我相信麼？一個人次次出動，次次安全囘來，只有別人被殺，有這個道理麼？」
「這就太奇了，」嘉拉應着。後來，他一想，忙問道：「你⋯⋯你在懷疑我嗎？」
是的，彼得懷疑她走漏消息了，嘉拉怎樣解釋也難入信的。
然而，這一次例外，「領巾」沒有回來，據生還的隊員說，眼見他受傷被擒了。
彼得吩咐隊員，準備接應英軍傘兵，並監視嘉拉行動，因為她有通敵嫌疑，說完去了。

英國傘兵如期降落安咸森林區，不過徳軍似乎早已預料這一着，有了準備，重砲隊出動，包圍傘兵降落地區，於是九千位傘兵等於墜入陷阱。
同時，彼得對於加拉的話，保留着一個疑問。他去查問領巾」的父母，和各方面，看到底誰負起走漏消息的責任。唯一問題是：英軍準備用傘兵攻安咸之前，先命令「領巾」執行指定的敵後破壞活動程序，作為配合動作。倘若這一程序給德軍情報人員知悉加以硏究分析，就會探得到傘兵襲擊這一行動，而知所準備了。那末，誰走漏消息呢？不過，上峯已經認定喜拉洩漏軍秘，甚而通敵；而上峯目前注意於怎樣解救被圍的九千傘兵，其他問題都得撇下。
彼得想，在這個情勢下，要引導九千傘兵脫離重圍，除非有奇蹟。他需要內應，他想起被捕的「領巾」。據査，「領巾」被安置在史干納德的德軍醫院，更不容易和他接觸。
羅生上尉報吿彼得，德軍上校杜列治因飛機油罄逼降，給我軍俘虜，他要求見彼得第文達上校。彼得記為這個杜列治上校，就是從前逮捕自己的人，曾經要求自己改爲德軍效力做間諜，後來却給「領巾」救出。
彼得進拘囚室看杜列治，杜列治先向他打探一個在英的親人，彼得吿訴他，那人已經死了。彼得問他，記得「領巾」不？杜列治說，那就是從前救出彼得的人，現在軍醫院，等醫好了審訊，要處死的。彼得要求他一件事，要是答應的話，他可以回到德軍佔領區。

當天，一隻有十字徽的德機降落史干納德附近的機塲，杜列治走出來緊跟着的是彼得，已經換上德軍官制服，另外有兩個穿德軍士兵制服的，其中第一個是羅生。杜列治從機塲守兵取得一部車，開去史干納德。彼得的手槍始終逼近杜列治身旁。
到了軍醫院，那幾個假德軍用最迅速的手法，奪得那週身綁了繃帶的「領巾」送上汽車，風馳電掣般駛回機塲。上機時，彼得站在最後，等杜列治先上。不料杜列治陡地糾纏他，兩人在機下纏着。彼得袋裡手槍一響，杜列治死了。羅生在機上俯下來，牽着彼得上機。飛機升空時，機塲德軍對着杜列治死屍，還不知就裡。
下午那滿身綳帶的「領巾」被送進薩特的一家大酒店。消息傳出，這地下英雄獲救，熱心的荷蘭人麕集在酒店前歡呼。「領巾」出來露臉招手，彼得始終跟在他身旁。
羅生根據「領巾」的話，報吿總部。「領巾」指出一條路線，從安咸森林區，越過萊茵河，繞出達利爾村可以引導傘兵脫離包圍圈，退入自由區。同時「領巾」願意同去，親自引路。

脫險出來的傘兵，構成一股人潮，源源走過。在人羣中，穿着不稱身的士兵大衣，容顏憔悴的是嘉拉。

In filming its new adventure-romance, “Betrayed,” in color, M-G-M pioneered into Holland as the first
Hollywood studio to use the land of the dykes and windmills as a setting for a major production.
Starring Clark Gable, Lana Turner, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern, under the direction of Gottfried Rein- hardt, “Betrayed” recaptures the adventurous days of the Dutch Resistance.
"In choosing our locations,” says Reinhardt, “we did our best to keep the action of our story moving, yet record the charm, picturesqueness and indomitable strength of the country itself.”
A number of major locales were used, ranging from Amsterdam to Delft, the city of Vermeer and the famed "Delft blue."
Other locations included historic Arnhem, Stittard and Volendam, where the villagers, baggy-trousered men and lace-capped women, might have stepped from the pages of folklore.
The stark emptiness of Rotterdam, a result of the 1940 Nazi bombings, contributed another arresting background. In sharp contrast was The Hague, home of the Dutch government and the International Court of Justice.
“It was this contradiction of old world charm and modern happenings which we wanted to record with our cameras,” states the director. “We found the Hollanders warm, friendly and hospitable. Their country, flat, green and spotlessly clean, bustled with bicycles and blossoms.

Lana Turner, who rose to Hollywood stardom as a blonde glamour girl, recently has revealed a marked change both in the type of roles she plays on the screen and in the color of her tresses.
The erstwhile Glamour Queen has developed into a top-ranking actress, with highly acclaimed dramatic portrayals in “The Bad and the Beautiful” and “Flame and the Flesh.”
In her newest picture, “Betrayed,” filmed by M-G-M in color in Holland, with Clark Gable, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern in an all-star cast, Lana plays another demanding characterization as a girl who joins the Dutch Resistance during World War II.
As the cynical film star of “The Bad and the Beautiful,” she appeared as a golden blonde. As the worldly heroine of “Flame and the Flesh,” she switched to a brunette. In “Betrayed” she is seen as both.
The plot of the new drama calls for Miss Turner to appear first as the young wife of a wealthy Dutchman, and in these scenes she has blonde hair. Later, when she “doubles" for an espionage agent who has been liquidated by the Nazis, she is seen as a brunette,
Asked which hair color she prefers, Lana chooses the darker.
“I like being a brunette,” she says, “With dark hair I don't feel like a movie siar and it gives me a privacy I never enjoyed before. When we were filming 'Flame and the Flesh' in Italy, I could wander where I wished without attracting attention.
“It was the same when we went to Holland for 'Betrayed.' During an interval of a few days when I was not needed before the cameras, I flew over to Paris to buy some clothes. One Of the dresses required alterations and I arranged to come back for another fitting the following week.
“In the meantime, I resumed work in 'Betrayed' in scenes which called for me to be a blonde. When I went back to the Paris shop, the proprietress refused to give me the dress. She refused to believe that I was the same client. I had to rustle up a few credentials to convince her!”
MATURE GETS CHANCE TO LOOK LIKE HIMSELF
Victor Mature returns to the Twentieth Century for his new role with Clark Gable and Lana Turner in M-G-M's “Betrayed.”
After his historical costumes for “The Robe" and “Samson and Delilah," he was happy to get back into trousers and windbreakers for his characterization of an adventurous dare-devil with the Dutch Resistance of World War II in the current drama.

The chief “casually” during a fight scene in M-G-M's “Betrayed" was Victor Mature's nose.
It happened in a scene in which Mature, as a leader of the Dutch Resistance in World War II, led his followers in an attack against a squad ot Nazi soldiers. It was fighting of the most realistic order, and Mature's nose took the brunt of it.
Although X-rays revealed that the actor hadn't suffered a fracture. Director Gottfried Reinhardt revised his shooting schedule for the next two days so that he could film scenes in which Mature did not appear.

She Had Good Reason For Resuming Career at 75!
When an actress resumes her career at the age of 75, there usually is a reason for it.
In the case of Elsa Heims, one of Europe's most distinguished actresses and named among the Continent's most beautiful women in her youth, there was a special reason.
Now living in Munich, Germany, Miss Heims traveled by plane to Holland to appear with Clark Gable, Lana Turner, Victor Mature and Louis Calhern in M-G-M's color adventure-drama, “Betrayed."
The veteran actress would not ordinarily have made such a trip for a film role. This venture was an exception. “Betrayed" was directed by Gottfried Reinhardt, and Mr. Reinhardt happens to be Miss Heims' son.
