His mother, anxious to get a grandson and having learned that Ah Ching is in love with Ah Chuen, a young and pretty orphan girl working in the noodle shop opposite Ah Ching’s House, urges Ah Ching to propose to her for marriage. Trusting Ah Ching as a honest and hardworking young man, Ah Chuen finally consents to marry him. Ah Chuen gives birth to a baby son after marriage. The house in which Ah Chuen works as maid servant, though wealthy and luxurious in appearance, is in reality a sordid and notorious rendezvous catering to pleasure seekers. The mistress of the house, who makes profit by hoarding pretty women as men bait, is much attracted by Ah Chuen. She makes an attempt to trap her into her ring, while Ah Chuen still knows nothing of her real intention aside from appreciating her favours and kindness. But Ah Ching begins to suspect when one day he calls on Ah Chuen seeing her well dressed mixed up with a group of suspicious looking men.
Through the introduction of Wong, Ah Ching’s former co-worker in the watch repair shop, Ah Ching lands in a job in a grocery shop. One day when he is assigned to deliver some goods to the house where Ah Chuen works, he overhears gossips going among his coworkers which further confirms him his suspiscion about Ah Chuen being entrapped in a notorious mixup. Meanwhile the mistress of the house has set a trap on Ah Chuen by sending her to bring some presents to her adopted daughter living in a house in the suburb. Ah Ching encounters Ah Chuen on the way seeing Ah Chuen riding in a car driving away from the house. He makes a desperate chase after the car, but is badly injured in a car accident.
To Ah Chuen’s great surprise, she finds a man awaiting in the suburb house instead of being the adopted daughter of her mistress. She makes a clever escape from the trap, but upon reaching home she finds her husband in a bad rage condemning her for betraying him. In a fit of disgust and excitement, she falls unconscious, which causes the unborn baby to die in her stomach, as she is then pregnant. She is rushed to the hospital condition. An operation to save her life will cost Ah Ching $300.
Ah Ching, now realizing his wrong and in trying to raise the money to save the life of his beloved wife, is forced to sell himself by accepting advanced pay from a labour recruiting office then recruiting labourers for a certain foreign country. Ah Chuen’s life is luckily saved, but Ah Ching has to be shipped away to the foreign land with the recruited labourers. Just at this critical moment, his former co-worker Wong arrives with some money, and together with the loan contributed from his relatives and neighbourers, Ah Ching is able to pay back what he owes to the labour recruiting office to set himself free. Thus he and Ah Chuen are able to live together happily hereafter.
