TIME IS RUNNING SHORT

　　Wang Hsiung (Wang Hao,) owner of a big stable is sick. His wife Li Hsiao Yu (Yeh Fung) personally goes to the stable on horse back asking stable hands to guide the horses to the market for sale. After their departure to the market, she accompanied by her nephew Hsiao Hai Chih (Hsiao Po) goes to buy medicine for her husband.

　　The two return to the stable shortly before dark and find stable hand Chao Shar Chi murdered. The murderer is Chow Chi (Chin Miew).

　　Chow Chi also known as Black Whirlwind was put into jailed by Wang Hsiung three years ago at the request of the Village Chief for his attrocities. Having served his prison term Black Whirlwind and his followers are seeking vengeance.

　　Wang Hsiung and his wife, knowing the intention of Chow Chi, discuss the matter with the Village Chief in order to safeguard the peace and order of the village. Angered at the indifferent attitude taken by the Village Chief, Li Hsao Yu makes a vain attempt to go to the city asking for help. Ambushed at Tiger Mountain she is forced to return to the village only to find out that the villagers are in panic.

　　At this moment usually gallant Yen San Nu (Wang Ying) whose proposal was rejected by Li returns to the village. Li, despite her husband’s objection, goes to Yen asking for his help in defending the village. She meets Yen and his lover, Little Cabbage (Shu Ching) in a small hotel. Aroused by jealousy Little Cabbage engages in a fist fight with Li. To avoid further troubles Yen San Nu decides to leave the village early in the morning with the intention of taking along Little Cabbage.

　　Shortly after the decision is made Yen learns that there are a few Black Whirlwind’s informers in the village. They intend to burn the village and take the loot.

　　Learning this, Yen changes his mind and agrees to help Wang Hsiung defend the village. In a pre-dawn raid they round up the informers.

　　At noon next day, Black Whirlwind and his followers invade the village. With the village practically deserted Wang, Li and Yen make a courageous stand against the invaders. In the midst of ferocious fighting Wang is struck by illness. Yen takes hold of the command. While the invaders are repulsed both Yen and Black Whirlwind are killed.

　　However, the name of Yen San Nu is long remembered by the villagers.
