THE MISSING GIRL
(Synopsis)
Teenage girl Lan Lan, robbed and about to be insulted by a teddy gang, was rescued by her friend Hsia Fei who killed teddy boy Second Tiger by accident in the fight. A frightened Lan Lan ran into the safety shelter of Uncle Bing and his wife.
Lan had been a good girl. Her father worked overseas and her mother beaded sweaters to supplement the family income. Lan got to know Hsia at a school party. It was after weekend “mystery ball” that Second Tiger insulted Lan. Hsia, overwhelmed, ran away with Lan. They bumped into Lan's mother and Uncle Huang, an overseas intimate of Lan's father.
Enraged by the untidy sight that was Lan, her mother warned her to dissociate from Hsia. Indignant with her mother's tight control, Lan ran away from home. At this point of her recollection, Lan broke down and sobbed.
Before the Bings could escort Lan home, Hsia's diehard, George, intercepted her and brought her to a boarding house for a reunion with Hsia. The "Seven Tigers of the Dragon City" broke in and demanded Hsia's life to avenge the Second Tiger. Lan's plea to spare Hsia met with the Tigers' counter-demand for $10,000 in redemption. Hardpressed for money, Lan thought of robbing Uncle Huang.
Pretending to be repentant and persecuted by the villains, Lan gained entry into Huang's house. A doting Auntie Huang told Lan of her father's death and Uncle Huang's willingness to help. Ashamed, Lan backed down from the robbery plan. Hsia, however, pressed ahead by kidnapping Huang's grandson to lure the Huangs away from home so that he might ransack the house. But the Huangs returned before time and barely escaped injury in their struggle with Hsia. Hsia wounded Lan's mother who also arrived to help the Huangs.
In her cell, Lan discovered the missing girl from her neighbourhood and old schoolmate Yin Yin had both sunk to the depth of call girls. To her surprise, she found Hsia and the Seven Tigers were birds of a feather. Awakened, Lan broke off from the gang and resolved to turn a new leaf in life. — The End —
