Mature’s NoseTook Brunt of Fighting in Scrap

The chief “casually” during a fight scene in M-G-M's “Betrayed" was Victor Mature's nose.

It happened in a scene in which Mature, as a leader of the Dutch Re­sistance in World War II, led his followers in an attack against a squad ot Nazi soldiers. It was fighting of the most realistic order, and Mature's nose took the brunt of it.

Although X-rays revealed that the actor hadn't suffered a fracture. Di­rector Gottfried Reinhardt revised his shooting schedule for the next two days so that he could film scenes in which Mature did not appear.

“Betrayed,” filmed in color on loca­tions in Holland and England, co-stars Clark Gable, Lana Turner and Louis Calhcrn.
