MY WACKY, WACKY WORLD (synopsis)

The Ching Dynasty, in its final years, is famous for corruption and miscarriage of justice. The magistrate in our story (James Wong) is definitely no exception. Whoever comes to him with money wins. He has amassed a fortune.

A dispute erupts between the local community and a foreign mining company, which is demanding a reduction from the contract because the ore is poor. Our magistrate sides with the community and rejects the demand.

The foreign company comes to the magistrate in the dark of the night with 5,000 gold coins. The next day the magistrate revokes his own decision. Then comes bigger bribery from the land owners, only to be followed by another reversal of the verdict. The magistrate spots three suspicious young men in the audience, and orders his bodyguard to investigate.

Told they may be high ranking investigators from the capital, the magistrate decides to buy them off. He sends his favourite prostitute Gold Orchid (Deborah Li) to approach them. The three demand $ 50,000 to be stashed in 20 jars. The magistrate has to agree. His shrew of a wife (Helen Poon) is having a n affair with the bodyguard, and the two plan to switch the jars. Planning for the same thing are his staff and Gold Orchid herself. They all come too late as the magistrate has secretly given the jars to the investigators.

As soon as the threesome are founded to be impostors, an other three well dressed strangers make a suspicious appearance. Again, they are suspected to be royal investigators. Our magistrate decides on bribery, but once again, the three investigators turn out to be impostors.

Three strong men come to the magistracy with a complaint. Our magistrate canes them and throws them into jail. He again learns royal investigators have gone to the community, and is convinced the three men are real inspectors. His wife elopes with his bodyguard and his money. They are interrupted and the magistrate gives all he has to the royal inspectors. As his term is up. the magistrate has to leave his office a very poor man.

Gold Orchid holds a farewell party for him. He finds all the impostors before him. Actually they are tools used by the magistrate to get money from his staff and wife. He wants his money back but every cent is gone with Gold Orchid.
