Dr. Peter Leonard

Peter Leonard received his B.A. in art history from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. in Scandinavian literature from the University of Washington. He came to Yale in 2013 as the first Librarian for Digital Humanities Research. He is currently the director of Digital Humanities Lab at Yale University Library.

Prior to coming to Yale, Peter was responsible for humanities research computing at the University of Chicago and served as a postdoctoral researcher in text-mining at UCLA, supported by a Google Digital Humanities Research Award.

During 2007-08 he served as a Fulbright Scholar at Uppsala University in Sweden.

Ms. Lindsay King

Lindsay King is the Associate Director for Access and Research Services in the Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library at Yale University. She oversees public services–including reference, instruction, outreach, and digital services–for students and faculty in Yale’s Schools of Art, Architecture, and Drama, the Department of the History of Art, the program in Theater Studies and Dance, and interdisciplinary scholars across campus.

Before coming to Yale, Lindsay worked in the Art Collection at Northwestern University Library and in museum education at the Art Institute of Chicago. With Peter Leonard, she has been a partner on the Robots Reading Vogue project that brings data-mining techniques to the ProQuest Vogue Archive, and the Ensemble@Yale project that crowdsources transcription of Yale theater history archives.

Lindsay reviews books on art history, fashion, and museum studies for various publications. Her research interests include art collecting and patronage, fashion history, and applications of digital humanities methods in the visual and performing arts.

Prof. Kara Chan

Dr. Kara Chan is currently a professor in the Department of Communication Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University. She worked in the advertising and public relations profession and as a statistician for the Hong Kong Government before she joined the academia. She is the associate director of David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies. She recently working on a digital scholarship project with the Library on materialism among children and youth in China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Singapore.

Her journal articles won five awards at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence.

She was a Fulbright Scholar at Bradley University, and a visiting Professor at Copenhagen Business School, Aarhas University, and Klagenfurt University.

Dr. Kevin Lo

Kevin Lo is an assistant professor of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University and the Founding Editor of Journal of Asian Energy Studies. Educated at the University of Hong Kong, Brunel University London, and the University of Melbourne, Kevin is an energy geographer who studies the sustainable transition of energy systems from spatial, regional, urban, and governance perspectives. His current teaching at HKBU includes global energy development, renewable energy systems, energy audit and management, and research methdology. He worked with the Library to develop Hong Kong Solar Map to encourage the use of solar panels in Hong Kong.

He has published in many leading journals, including Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy Policy, Energy for Sustainable Development, Energies, Sustainability, Environmental Science & Policy, Cities, and Habitat International.

Prof. Ian Aitken

Ian Aitken has a PhD from the University of Westminster. He is a professor of film studies at Hong Kong Baptist University, and has so far been awarded five Hong Kong government awards to carry out research into documentary film in Hong Kong and South-East Asia. His principal interest is in colonial film-making in South-East Asia, the influence of the British official film including the Griersonian tradition, and cinematic realism. He developed a digital scholarship project on documentary film study with the Library.

Ian has recently edited 'The Colonial Documentary Film in South and South-East Asia" with Camille Deprez in 2017 and 'The Major Realist Film Theorist" in 2016. He has also written 'The British Official Film in South-East Asia' in 2017 and ‘Hong Kong Documentary Film’ with Mike Ingham in 2014.

Ms. Rebekah Wong

Rebekah Wong is a senior assistant librarian of Hong Kong Baptist University Library. She supervises Digital Scholarship and Multimedia team of the library and oversees digital scholarship, scholarly communications, and multimedia services. She will also start to engage in the provision of research data services in the coming years.
