Interviewee: Tam Yik Fai

Dr. Tam Yik Fai was born in 1960 and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He then received his doctoral degree from Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA. Dr. Tam is a life-long Catholic and was eager to participate in different activities held by the Student Christian Movement of Hong Kong and the Catholic Society in CUHK, coordinated by the Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students. After his receiving his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Tam worked in the Student Christian Movement of Hong Kong, as well as the Justice and Peace Commission of the HK Catholic Diocese, and in Hong Kong Baptist University.
Dr. Tam introduced that he was born in a Catholic family and has actively participated in church activities since childhood. He has the vivid experience of interacting with priests in the church and St. Francis Xavier’s School, Tsuen Wan. He began to participate in the activities of the Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students before he studied in CUHK. He spoke of his involvement in the Student Christian Movement, the Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students, and the Justice and Peace Commission of the HK Catholic Diocese. Dr. Tam also shared with us his impression of the colonial government and the SAR government.
