Biographies
Dr. Donald Waters
Senior Program Officer, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation- Donald J. Waters is the senior program officer for Scholarly Communications at the Foundation. Before joining the Foundation, Mr. Waters served as the first director of the Digital Library Federation (1997-1999), as associate university librarian at Yale University (1993-1997), and in a variety of other positions at the Computer Center, the School of Management, and the University Library at Yale. In 1995-96, he co-chaired the Task Force of the Commission on Preservation and Access and the Research Libraries Group on Archiving of Digital Information. In 2001-2008, Mr. Waters served on the Library of Congress National Digital Strategy Board, and in 2005-2008, served on the Library of Congress Section 108 Study Group. He has been a member of the steering committee of the Coalition for Networked Information since 1999, and is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is the author of numerous articles and presentations on libraries, digital libraries, digital preservation, and scholarly communications.
Dr. Miguel Escobar Varela
Assistant Professor, English Language and Literature, National University of Singapore- Miguel Escobar Varela is a theatre researcher, web developer and translator. In his research, he applies computational methods to study Indonesian theatre and codes interactive platforms to share theatre scholarship online. He is Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Academic Advisor on Digital Scholarship to the NUS Libraries. He directs the Contemporary Wayang Archive (cwa-web.org) and convenes the informal Digital Humanities Singapore group (digitalhumanities.sg). Mr. Andy Cho
Consultant, Radica Systems Limited- Being one of the key data-project consultants of RADICA, Andy has participated in different data-related commercial projects for brands in retail, real estate, and theme park. He actively promotes and builds public awareness on big data, as well as the importance of open data. Andy's signature project is Data Studio, with which he works closely with Science Park on Data Studio's daily operation as well as both online and offline projects.
Andy is also the "Master" behind the newly launched online community platform - Data Valley. Data Valley allows data engineers and data scientists to discover and create the value of data, join the online challenge to enhance their profiles and skills, and stay tuned with the online and offline events within the data community.

Prof. Clara Ho
Head, Department of History, Hong Kong Baptist University- Clara Wing-chung Ho is Professor and Head of the Department of History, Hong Kong Baptist University. Her academic interests include using a gender lens to revisit history and historiography in late imperial China. She has authored/edited sixteen books and seventy some articles and book chapters in English and Chinese. She was a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor of History at the Northeastern University in Boston, and an elected Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities.

Dr. Angel Lai
Research Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Hong Kong Baptist University- Angel Lai received her doctoral degree at Washington University in St Louis, and is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Work at HKBU. Her areas of interests lies in positive human development, social capital intervention, and policy for aging society. She specializes in mixed methods research and multilevel modelling. Angel has been working with children in rural China school, including an expressive arts project for post-quake Sichuan school victims and Yi ethnic minority youths in Liangshan, China. Currently, she has expanded her research areas to understanding the well-being of adolescent as well as older people in Hong Kong on the individual, community and policy level. She also examines the effect of community on the psychosocial well-being and upward mobility of local, new arrivals and ethnic minority young adults (aged 17-23) in Hong Kong. Policy-wise, she is working with the Hospital Authority and Social Welfare Department on designing policy related to the welfare of frail elderly and chronically-ill patients.
Prof. David Chung
Professor, Department of Music, Hong Kong Baptist University- David Chung completed his musicological studies at Cambridge University and has contributed articles and reviews in Early Music, Early Keyboard Journal, Journal of Eighteenth-Century Music, Journal of Seventeenth-Century Music, Music and Letters, and Revue de musicologie. His edition of nearly 250 keyboard arrangements of Jean-Baptiste Lully’s music is recently published by the Web Library of Seventeenth-Century Music (www.sscm-wlscm.org). Chung maintains an active schedule as harpsichordist and has performed in cities across Europe, North America and Asia. Chung is currently Professor of Music at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Mr. Pili Hu
Lecturer, Department of Journalism, Hong Kong Baptist University- Pili Hu teaches data journalism and media technology in HKBU. Before joining HKBU, he served as the Chief Technology Officer of Initium Media, responsible for developing technologies to power the fast-growing digital media outlet. He founded Initium Lab whose data-driven news report on Hong Kong Legislative Council voting pattern won SOPA "Excellence in Information Graphics" award in 2016. He was co-founder and CEO of HyperLab which produced a cross social network search engine. He holds an MPhil in Information Engineering from CUHK. Before moving to Hong Kong, he worked for Baidu in Beijing as core algorithm R/D engineer, responsible for user behaviour and link analysis.
