Aim

To study materialistic values of children in China.

Subjects

A convenience sample of 256 elementary school students 6 to 13 years old.

Methodology

• A survey based on a structured questionnaire was conducted.
• Data on the subjects’ materialistic values and their exposure to media was collected.
• Materialism was measured by a scale of 15 items which was a slight modification of the scale in the study on children in Hong Kong in 2002.
